stay away from that asus.

i tested it with the strix during the asus lan event.

the scaler on it is nuffed. Its seems like they are using some form of scaling from a 23 to fit at 27 for the 1080p.
after messing around and changing in nvidia control panel to use the gpu scaler only everything looked okay.

gaming on it i really felt the colors were off and just something not right with that pixel pitch..

if ure really into gaming get a TN fast panel or a better 23inch IPS panel etc. These 27inch 1080p panels like this are all off.

as for that samsung afaik its a mva panel etc. MVA panels i would only buy from benq as they are the best at it. MVA issue for me in the past is always excellent but i find it getting hot after some prolong nvr off few days/week use and also prone to burn in of static images on stress testing etc.

I can swear to u on that Asus Monitor. It was at the Lan event and i overclocked their strix. The scaler on it is like screwed up and u feel the pixel pitch is not right. Maybe if u view from far.

I meant that any VA panel. Only get it from benq. They are the main adopters and generally have been doing r&D on that panel for the last decade or so. Go and test theirs.

Btw y 27inch 1080p?? Seriously this pixel pitch is odd. Most games pixels are optimized at 95PPI as windows is optimized at this.

Ure going lower at 84. Seriously i would reconsider doing this at get a good 23inch@1080p.

Its the same thing where TV at normal viewing distance is odd at 55inch 1080p vs 42/47inch 1080p.

4k problem is two fold
1. Do u have the GPU horspower to drive that resolution
aka three 980, 970, x290, 290 etc.
2. Again current windows has a problem with the dpi. at 28inch 4k tn which is the cheapest and what most ppl are using ...184 dpi..

hz. Hmm referesh rate and tearing. For me it has been a 10 year headache that only recently solved with gsync. I cant quantify and explain how good it is but it redefines gaming experience. Its just like SSD. it redifine os/game load.. work productivity etc...
but just like ssd gsync is not cheap as Nvidia has use a FPGA IC instead of making a ASIC for gsync hence the cost.
