Any comments on the fan noise? Is it constantly spinning and can be heard ?

fan is spinning all the time but it's verry quiet, you can't hear it unless you go with your ear 5cm in front of the fangrill. With 100% CPU load you cant hear the fan either but you hear the airflow sound which is verry nice low herz sound. The fan itself really don't do wierd squeeze or other high frequenzy noise. Besides the speakers are really outstandig, it has really base, it is a verry clear sound and verry loud. The Dell 7447 Pandora sound pulverise the sound of a Asus Rog G55-VW (until now the Asus Rog G55-VW was my personal reference for laptops max 15.6inch.

Most important, it is upgradeable to 16 GB (2x8GB) 2133Mhz.
I am running Kingston HyperX Impact Black 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 2133MHz DDR3L SODIMM 1.35V (HX321LS11IBK2/16),
Timings CL-11 tRCD-12 tRP-13 tRAS-35 CR-2 tRFC-278
The HyperX Kit is verry stable, benchmarks provide always a verry verry similar score, so well quality Ram. Attached is a Screenshot from 8GB original 1600 vs 16GB HyperX 2133
Maybe the Corsair Venegance Performance 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 2133 Mhz DDR3L SODIMM 1.35V fits as well,

Thanks for the feedback. A noisy laptop can be quite irritating at times. I also read that its a fingerprint magnet? Is this true?

I would say No, not more than other mat black surfaces. My wife and me have 4 Laptops, all are the same if you look at the fingerprints. This Laptop is less fingerprint magnet than a glossy laptop but more fingerprint magnet than a aluminium laptop (apple pro book).

In the end, I was looking since ages (5 years) for a 14 inch laptop with power, discrete grafik, dvd, backlight keyboard and 5 hour stamina if surfing through the www. I found it.
Be careful to choose the right Dell 7447 Pandora with FullHD Display (1920x1080). Dell changed it to crap Display with 1366x788, may because the Pandora was to good to be true and to dangerous for the way to big, to expensive Dell Alienware Laptop Brothers.

I love the discrete 4GB variant of the GTX850m, true, its just DDR3 but you can't find 4GB GDDR5.
For CAD, Photoshop CC14 Video rendering with Camera Raw Filter and Big Maps Games I just need as much Ram I can get.
The Asus Rog G55-VW (GTX660m, 2GB GDDR5) I have is not that fast in Photoshop video rendering (Camera Raw Filter can be used for videos as well).
So, I love my FHD Dell 7447 Pandora even more after the upgrade to 16GB DDR3L 2133Mhz HyperX impact.

The Best screen calibration I found so far for the FullHD Display (AUO B140HAN)
is a ICC profile from Win7x64 called: sRGB IEC61966-2.1 that is even slightly better than the screen calibration from Notebookcheck.com for a Lenovo T440s.
This screen calibration for the Lenovo T440s, can be used for the FHD variant display AUO B140HAN of the Dell 7447 Pandora.
You can compare it by yourself with other profiles like the sRGB IEC61966-2.1.

The only laptop which is nearly same as good in max 14 inch was the Gigabyte P34GV2-CF2 BUT there is no optical drive and it is ugly. All of the custom build Laptop you find have no optical drive if they are 14 inch or under. For me, a optical drive is important.
