New owner of GP62-6QF here. Bought it at MYR4399.

Probably I'm missing something, but when I'm watching torrented movies (and prawn) that was copied from my 7 year old MacBook white, the display quality is worst off than my old Mac!

Even my iPad Air looks better. What gives?!

Was playing dota 2 on the machine...same goes, colors seems to be washed out compare to the display s in cyber cafe. The graphics good though.

Yeah, your MSI screen should get 70+% Adobe RGB, same as most apple product.

Don't quite understand the context here, mind elaborating a bit please? smile.gif

The poor quality is driving me nuts, I'm contemplating on investing another external monitor.

Bad news here. Not even a month, a MONTH, the CPU fan started to die on me.

It's getting louder and there's buzzing sound coming out from the fan. Grr.

As a new owner of a MSI laptop, I'm rather disappointed. First the TN panel and it's poor color quality, now the bloody fan.

About the international warranty thing. How does it work? Do I need to bring a receipt when I bought it back in Malaysia? I'm currently staying in SG and plan to send to MSI SG to fix it.

MSI SG can give full refund?
*
Not possible I reckon, bought it at MSI store in Low Yat. I don't think the MSI SG over would be able to do a refund. I'm gonna call up their service centre. Since there's international warranty.

Stay tune!

Should be 5lbs. around 2.3kg. The GT series is about 5kg (with 2 graphics card, 2ssd and hdd, heatsink, 2or 3 fans), GS series is 1.8kg. So the GE series cant be 5kg.

Gosh, 5kg is like beginners weight for weightlifter.

No way is 5kg.

Yeap, 6 months in and fan 1 busted for good. Fortunately there's fan 2 and a cooler to compensate for the temperature.

Not exactly the best experience for my first gaming laptop. doh.gif

Bro, what model is your laptop? If it's a higher spec model, there will two separate individual fans, one for CPU and one for GPU. Your Fan 1 is CPU and Fan 2 is GPU. Looks like it's working as you're playing a game and the GPU fan is being utilised thoroughly and spinning really fast while the CPU fan is slower as the CPU is not being worked that hard compared to the GPU, when you're gaming.

As a side note, it looks like you have the older version of the MSI Dragon Center. Go to your laptop model page on MSI Malaysia and click on Support and there will be a list of the latest BIOS, driver, utility, and firmware. I suggest you ignore the update for the BIOS and firmware unless you have problems, but definitely take a look at the driver and utility section for the latest update for your laptop. If you're not sure where it is, shoot me a PM. Will help you.

it's lower spec version - GP62-6QF. Fan 2 is being fully utilize because I manually turn it on, knowing fan 1 is busted. The speed has been fluctuating from 0 to 500+ to 2000+ and back to 0 again. It's pretty frustrating when I'm gaming halfway, knowing that one of the fans is busted.

The usual RPM for fan 1 when I'm not gaming is 2.8k (constant), and when I'm gaming, is about 4k and above. I kind of knew the fan 1 gonna die on me, it started off giving me some cranky sound when it was running.

Thanks for the pointers on the MSI drivers, I'll get that patch up.

I know I was right. Haha...  rolleyes.gif  Anyway, I have gone through not so pleasant experience with my both previously owned msi laptops regarding the Msi warranty policy & their service centre ( I went to the kelana jaya one, not the new location at kota kemuning. so I dunno if their service has improved or just the same) hmm.gif

Because of these unpleasant experiences regarding the warranty stuff, I just bought another new laptop with better warranty service and I did not regret even a bit.. Msi does indeed have the largest laptop range to offer with some of the best gaming features on their laptops, but their warranty service is just.... not good. Sub par I would say.  sweat.gif  Plus, their quality is like all over the place.  bangwall.gif  (Maybe the GT series is good overall as claimed by many. Below that, GE, GP, or GL, u have to rely on luck to not get any issue) Both my previous laptop got issues; the first one was minor but the second one was quite major and it is the sole reason I regret using Msi laptops. When got issues or lemon unit, you are bound to face the unpleasant steps to RMA & those waiting stuffs, explaining the issue with the hope they could really detect the exact issues yada, yada, yada... u know that.  rclxub.gif

Another issue why I regret using Msi is the stupid void warranty sticker at one of the back screws. If the laptop was opened by yourself (for various reasons like upgrading internal & cleaning etc), & not by the authorized shop/retailer you bought from, the warranty is void....   what a biggest bummer is that when you already bought an expensive laptop, but have no freedom to open it without voiding the warranty..  bangwall.gif  mad.gif

I'm not discouraging any potential future buyer from purchasing Msi laptops but bear in mind of these issues or u will have headache later on to deal with if u got unlucky.

I feel you bro, my GP...SMH.

if it's still have warranty period left you could still bargain with buyer but your is much older therefor even you sold to second hand shop
they will try negotiate with you to buy it cheaper.

hmm... just a suggestion
maybe could consider to keep as spare or give to your kid/relative kid ? since now a day school will request parent to get a basic laptop for their
child for project or school, getting a basic laptop also will cost 1k plus might as well reuse it

should say electronic gadget price drop very fast  cry.gif
heartache if you always visit gadget store watching the model you use price drop and getting eol  bye.gif

The second hand laptop market here in Singapore is also pretty weak. Just recently, I sold my 2 years+ old GP62-6QF laptop for about S$450. I bought this unit for about RM45XX back in December ‘16.

I could have aimed for a higher price in Carousel, but nah. I’ll take what is offered.
