I always crank up my pe70 6qe to max volume but never notice any abnormal sound.... Let me reconfirm tonite...

I wanted to buy laptop and chose MSI PE70 6QE. Mostly for programming work, also for watching videos/movies and sometimes games. My goals for screen - good view angles, fast response and good black for video/games. But then I found out it has "bad" panel. Then I started to wonder whether I need this laptop. As I understand all the new Skylake PE70/PE60/GE72/GE62 6Q* have "bad" panel, while older 2Q* have "good" panel.

I wonder is panel of newer MSI notebooks is so bad I should avoid it? How bad it is? I'm not too picky about screen, but I'm gonna work at laptop a lot of time so I'd like to have screen that at least won't get in my way. Would gaming/movies on that panel be ok? Like no trails, good black? May be stick with older PE70 2QE (GE72 2QE has same panel?)? Or may be even other brand, seems e.g. ASUS ROG has both IPS and Skylake.

In other words people could say one panel is worse than other, but eventually I could see no difference looking at worse panel, right?

And I wonder are IPS panels ok for games? I wanted to chose TN when I found out IPS aren't good for gaming. But gaming notebooks have IPS, so they should be ok?

PS. Such a headache to make a choice of such expensive item for me. Also don't have that notebooks in local store to go and stare at them. So good I've found this discussion about panels of new MSI notebooks, so small info on them. Thanks.

Yes, added Samsung 950 pro 256G m.2 2280 pcie3.0 x 4 lanes on top of my Samsung 850 evo 250G sata ssd and micron 512G ssd.

Window boot time shorten from 16sec to 11sec.

Certain small program can open faster than my eye blink. Overall experience I would say worth the upgrade.

Can go for Samsung 950 pro 512G pcie m.2 ~ rm1600

2500Mb/s read. 1500Mb/s write...  More worth than my combination of Samsung 950 + 850. And u save 1 sata slot.

Thanks for feedback, guys, it was helpful. I think I'll try to stay away from poor panel (i.e. PE70 6QE). I saw one review where buyer didn't like panel so much that he returned it, and I saw other profs here that it's really not very good.
Yeah seems I need to do this. Bigger problem is there are no these notebooks in local stores so I can only get info from the internet, not look myself.
Yeah, that's great, especialy when usually I work on 32" TV and even 17" notebook is small for me. But I plan to use notebook in travel where external LCD is not an option

Both are very hard to find on our market (only if order from abroad). And I found MSI much better than these. Lenovo also has a lot of poor reviews.

Yeah, better to bring it back to the shop for the ssd upgrade, if your shop is an authorized msi seller. The shop can remove the warranty sticker using special tool, and do the ssd upgrade for u. You can also do the ssd upgrade by yourself, not that difficult though but you might have to spoil the warranty sticker to open the back case to do so. I dunno if this will void the warranty or not.

i installed SSD also from where i bought. gadget zone digital mall.
Even though he carefully remove the sticker, when i sent mylaptop for warranty the remark on the report was
"warranty sticker void due to owner upgrade ssd and ram"

so, be sure to keep your receipt well!

ya i knew instantly the standard 8gb ramis insufficient so might as well one shot.

in any case its always better to be prepared coz u know la when it comes to warranty etc, many shops/manufacturers will try their best to avoid fixing for you hahaha
