Anyone that can share their experience over artificial grass?
I'm worried that water might cause wear n tear and the burning heat in our country too.

I surveyed their price wasn't cheap, around 10 persqft. For that, I could install floor tiles over my side land of 5ft width.

We're living in a concrete jungle. If we want less maintenance, artificial grass gives can give you a sense of lush surroundings, albeit a false sense.

I have it done on my 20th floor balcony and my study room. The feel may not be 100% like grass, but good enough and it helps to give it a soft look/feel. Beautiful I must say ..

No concern with smell at the balcony as someone was worried about. It doesn't have a flat bottom. Mine has small rubber studs at the bottom in close gaps so that water will flow down and towards the floor trap. Of course there will be moisture and such but the sun will dry it out enough ...

McFD2R, how long have u installed them? Noticed any wear n tear yet? and how much was the cost?

Some say it's a DIY job...just buy some glue for the base to stick well to the concrete ground. How was yours done?

I was just cautioned that creepy crawlies love to hide underneath due to the moisture after rain or morning dampness. blink.gif

The artificial grass is actually quite hardy. The shop next to mine has it installed on the kerb for the past year and there is no fading or wear and tear. Looks lush and green all year round and no water logging. They added some pebbles and stone paving as well.

Came here to ask about Inspire Grass and found your post. Are you using this on your balcony? I plan to do the same on mine. Any complains so far? I plan to go there this weekend. Any tips before I do?

Thanks!

So far, it has been problem free. Personally, I'd suggest doing a yearly clean up to prevent dust built up underneath, which may then prevent water from flowing to the floor trap efficiently. Just roll it up, wash down with a pail of water, mop and wait till dry before unrolling it again. That's what I plan to do.

It's a nice feel when on a cool day, sitting in the balcony with your feet stepping on grass smile.gif even though artificial. I like Inspire because the grass has a very inconsistent look in terms of color, which gives it a more natural look.

Yes, you can DIY yourself. If I'm not mistaken, maximum width is 6 feet, if wider, they will have a sticky tape to join the other piece.

Hi, I am planning to put artificial grass at my garden. Should be around 5ft x 70ft. A few questions to ask:

1. should I put the grass direct on the soil or put on cement floor?
2. If put on cement floor, will the water trap and cause flood especially after rain.
3. If put on soil, will the soil become soggy and cause the floor become uneven?

Thank you!

When you want to put artificial grass on the soil; you try to put small white rock layer on the soil.
1 inch from the soil dirt.

the uneven you need to remove the uneven dirt...the small white rock will auto flat become .

Can artificial grass be glued onto a matt surface tile? The bottom of the grass has like tiny dots made of rubber to increase friction.

When you want to put artificial grass on the soil; you try to put small white rock layer on the soil.
1 inch from the soil dirt.

the uneven you need to remove the uneven dirt...the small white rock will auto flat become .

just curious... if we put the artificial grass on soil... can weeds grow under this artificial grass? i'm thinking unlikely due to no sunlight, etc... but just wanna be sure.

no sunlight..and hight humidty, not a agood condition to grow any grass. Except the artifical grass low quality and tear off allow sunlight then is different story- weed can grow.

You go puchong IOI Galeria - they also put artifical grass on soil.

Hi all,
Few years back, I help few of my friend performing group buy at http://www.artificialgrass-direct.com/
If you go to the link, the price is already much cheaper than Malaysia, if you doing groupbuy, there is more discount.
**it is sqm in the page, not sqft

This type of item, production cost is around RM0.50 to RM3 per sqft.
This wholeseller selling it out at double to retailer.

If you go to retailer in UK, if an item is selling about RM5 per sqft to end user. (they already earn)
If Malaysia, same item, might be RM10-20.

What I am trying to highlight here is the profit here is much much higher than anywhere else.

If you can DIY, just DIY, cheaper ma. Organize group buy.
If anyone want to groupbuy, let me know, come to July/August, i am planning to buy again.

Why you got so many area some no sunlight some have?

For my area and experience. The inner area getting less sunlight in half yrs. Very small portion and triangle shade. So the grass grow lesser and become tall type. I clear it out and decorate with some stone and tree bark to prevent the weed grow.

LOL, never realize got this topic previously.

Anyway, do not really have to worry on the insect.

1) Cut off all existing grass that don't want.
2) Do some pest control around the area.
3) There is product that can prevent pest from coming in to your area. can get from Mr. DIY.
4) Then install your articial grass.

5) Safer somemore, you can place garlic / garlic plant around your house, those will make pest runaway.

Ecograss sold at fair. Rm350 for 1 x 4 meters. 20mm pile thickness
*
May I know which fair is this ?

Have you manage to install yet ?

I recently purchased a roll to the brand is aces turf or something and mine's a 30mm pile

price for 1 * 2 M is around 180+

they have 2 versions one is from china which is a lot more cheaper and another is Australia as what they said which is the one I bought above.

here's my DIY install after wathing a lot of youtube install guide, a lot of planning and working on it for around 2 weeks ( only work on it during weekends )

Attached Image

I'm still having issue finding some 6 " nails for some part where the top layer soil used was a bit deep thus the nail I'm using doesnt properly stick .. I used galvanized nails those that are used for roofing.

Do you know where can I get 6" nails?

care to share youre install?

btw ignore the green gel .. those are pet get deterrent gel to avoid neighboring pets using my grass as thier new toilet .. before that they were constantly using it as their toilet and I had to clean up almost daily ..

ermm in my case, I manage to break the habit of the cats

Nowadays all the cats just pass by and doesnt do thier thing anymore..

I bought the repellent (cant remember the brand in my head now) at the pet shop at mines .. I asked which was the recommended.

I bought 2 bottles of different type. One is spray and another is gel.. the gel last longer ( a couple of days ) but the spray was stronger. On top of that I added a chicken fence ( got the tip from this link - http://winkypedia.net/2011/03/11/how-to-st...n-your-garden/)

I initially put both brands together on top of the grass and toped up spray daily.

After a week or so up till today none of the cats came to poo at my yard anymore.

Kill the grass with weedkiller.

Lay a layer or 2 of poly sheet (not sure the name. It is black Color) it is prevent the grass or anything grow back.

Than lay the artificial grass.

The weedkiller brought from nursery shop. 1-2week will die completely.

Ya, that 1. Make sure cover completely the soil. As Long as no sunlight shine on the soil, no grass will grow.

Anyway, you can spray the weed killer if it grow back.

Anyone that can share their experience over artificial grass?
I'm worried that water might cause wear n tear and the burning heat in our country too.

I surveyed their price wasn't cheap, around 10 persqft. For that, I could install floor tiles over my side land of 5ft width.

I have the exact same issue, here are some pointers to help: https://wezaggle.com/the-benefits-of-having...complete-guide/

Here are some points to help you understand more about artificial grass: https://wezaggle.com/the-benefits-of-having...complete-guide/ it can heat a lot especially mid-day. If you have a dog you should keep it off because his/her paws will burn!

Hi all, I'm currently looking for artificial grass for my garden.

Any good shop for recommendation?

Also, any contractor who can help to prepare the gravel base?

Loads of advice on here - Came across a UK company now installing 100% recyclable artificial grass. Up to now the backing of AG couldn't be recycled but this new product is all recyclable, impressive. https://eliteartificialgrass.co.uk/
