I'm going to UNSW for the 2008 undergraduate, anyone interested in going to the O-week together?

My flight is on 29th Feb evening. Accommodation, I think I dont have any problem with it, its the visa Im worried about.

Urm, yeh, but there's nothing to do if I go there earlier and I already have my accommodation settled.

Yeh, I did UNSW foundation so I am already familiar with Sydney. Urm, I was told that its 30mins away from uni, 30mins isn't that far compared to friends of mine from Blacktown and Liverpool but. Im planning to find a new place to stay once I find some ppl to live with.

cool! that makes only the two of us for now. so do new students have to attend the o-week everyday or something? how about we meet infront of the republic, or near the oshc office?

Documents need to be translated into English by a lawyer if Im not mistaken. U should ask an agent to do it, it would be much much muchhh easier.

It is interesting, think about all those freebies the yellow shirts will give out and meet friends! But those people who persuades to join their church thingy are just soo annoying, they even asked me to convert! Lolz.

Go to O-week everyday! There's not much else to do anyways.. Then we can go to Mamak

from ur explanation, i dont have tutes! ever.. well, for sem 1 that is.. weird but lucky!
12-week of academic session means we have a month break!

I dont think the govt would pay a lot for it.. they get what they pay.

I went to Sydney straight after SPM on January, luckily I wasnt chosen for NS (but even if ur chosen, u can just refuse)
Im in Sydney under own fundings but if u wanna get a study loan, u need to apply for it,
some of those I know took A lvls or AUSMAT. Maybe the others can help u out on this..
If ur under scholarship, u'll get around AUD1200 per month and its up to u to spend (rent, flight tix maybe, etc.)

My expenses last year (Foundation Year)
total course fee AUD18,000 but its now AUD22,000+
Accomodation AUD295 per week (all bills included) at Unilodge@UNSW
Monthly allowance AUD1600-1700 but it depends on each individual.

pretty pricey I guess

Yeh, pretty much.. plus the travel tens for constant ride to the city, bondi or upper campus
Do u guys use blue traveltens for brown trips or concessions?

Urm, the place I was staying at was expensive and I think its now 320 per week.. unilodge
It has good security, automated locked doors, for EACH doors! the main, the doors in between blocks, the elevator,the apartment room, and own room (we use a card key like the hotels) and great facilities.
But so u know, I was forced to stay there (either there or homestay) because I was under 18 at that time..

I think rents in Sydney are pretty expensive and it keeps getting higher every yr unless ur staying with a bunch of people in a hse.
Its my first time trying to find a hse/apartment this year and my budget is AUD200 per week, bills excluded. Fair nuff I suppose seeing how hard it is to find a place near uni and I prefer having my own room sharing with another 2 max.

Okay, the cheapest room is AUD284 in unilodge.. plus with the charge AUD10 - an exception for the first time, per key card lost (I think I lost mine, or locked myself out about 5 times)
I didn't have any choice because I was under-18, Im staying elsewhere this year but.
I think it would be hard to find a place in Kingsford/Kensington right now since its like peak time for students looking for accommodations.
Im thinking of... Waterloo if Im really desperate.

You should contact your school about the SPM cert ASAP then, just give everything to IDP. Come to Sydney!! XD

True, guess you have to do something like A lvls or ausmat first to apply for a scholarship.
