Property price is going up like rocket, my rent will increase by more than 10% next year. Is there anybody here who suffers from this too?

hey i want to know between australia and uk, which is the better place for me to pursue my postgraduate ? note that i have a uk degree...
Personally i would like to choose australia because its cheaper compared to uk and i believe it is easier to get citizenship compared to uk too.
But Im afraid the different education system between aussie and uk. Will it affects my pursuit in postgraduate if i were to go to Australia for my postgraduate?
Also, which uni is recommended for master for E&E ?

It depends on which uni... To be frank, UK top universities are more recognized globally compared to Australian top universities. And, I don't think australian universities are famous for postgraduate courses. Regarding the PR issue, since you are not doing accounting, you will find trouble getting the required points for PR.

Name of the uni counts a lot. If you are comparing newcastle and tasmania to the top universities in Australia, then I would advise you to go for the top universities despite the scholarships. Im speaking from my experience and I believe some other people might have experienced something different.

if you intend to work in oz, where you graduate from may help you get an interview, but not necessary the job...........and after your first job, where you graduate from doesn't really matter anymore..........

if you intend to return here, then where you graduate from is probably irrelevant, most people don't know which uni is more prestigious, many just put down XXX (australia)..........

so if money is tight, go for cheap and scholarships........

limeuu, I think you underestimated the HR people in Malaysia. They do very often know which universities are more prestigious. However, they might and might not be biased in selecting candidates for interview from different universities. From my experience, it is easier to get an interview if you come from a famous university and the interview itself might be easier too. I have friends studying in different universities across Australia and share my view on this subject matter.

electronic and electrical ???
why don't u go QUT Queensland Uni of Tech (no 1. tech uni in Australia).
If u plan to stay there and work.
go SUT : Swinburne Uni Of Tech (melbourne) (no2. in Tech Uni, No1 and 100% recruit rate in australia) but i'm not sure they accept international student for this faculty ......

Good luck ....
Uni of NC : the place is nice and i enjoy travel there .... smile.gif

SonnyCool, I did not see any Australian electronic and electrical engineering course ranking around the internet. So, can you tell me where did you secure the above information? So far, I remember my engineering friends telling me that UNSW had the best reputation for engineering thereby having the highest TER score requirement. Anyway, I still believe the group of eight is a safer bet if you were to look for reputable universities within Australia.

I am afraid not, The highest TER requirement from Australia for engineering degress is University of Sydney. UNSW has the lowest TER requirement among the G8 universities because it has the largest students intake .

Well, a quick comparison for 2008 intake. UNSW: http://www.international.unsw.edu.au/futur...ntry_guide.html . University of Melbourne: http://www.futurestudents.unimelb.edu.au/a.../augscores.html. I didnt bother to check the TER requirement for Uni of Sydney. But your claim that UNSW has the lowest TER requirement for engineering among G8 is false.

I never said that TER requirement justify employability directly. The reason why I mentioned TER requirement in my previous post was because most Australian universities set the score requirement at a point based on demand and supply. I believe in smart "consumers" in the market. Hence, high demand for a particular course leads to high TER score requirement.

Yes, I do know that most graduates get a job before graduating. I see that quite often. In fact, I know very few around me who is going to graduate but still has not gotten a job offer.

The TER requirement from University of Melbourne provided by you for local students only. brows.gif When I applied ( year 2006), For INTERNATIONAL students,The minimum TER for Each Uni roughly as shown below:

University of Mel  85 (will be considered)  91 guaranteed

University of Sydney 92

University of Queensland 89

UNSW                            85

UNSW was the lowest among these 4 universities.
*
The website that I put on about UNSW is for international students. And, although the TER requirement shown on melbourne uni website is stated for Australians VCE, the TER requirement will be the same for SAM students. So, UNSW being 88 and Unimelb 85, UNSW does not have the lowest TER requirement for engineering as per 2008 intake. I am not sure about the 2006 intake requirement because I applied for year 2005, UNSW had higher requirement for entrance than Uni melb and UQ.

melb uni commerce is around 24000 AUD/year. Living cost in melbourne per year would exceed 15000AUD easily if you stay in the city/around the city.

It depends on your final results more than whether your cert comes from ANU or UNSW. Both of them are very good universities in Australia. Assuming same results, same attitude, the probability of an ANU grad and an UNSW grad getting hired will be very very close.
