well last night was an indication on how cold Brisbane will be during winter

well personally i dont use the heater , i just negate the cold by putting on more layers of clothing. helps keep my landlady's electricity bill down as well (my rent includes electricity hehe)

if you were to get a heater, get either a convection heater or those oil filled heaters

Ic...probably will decide to get one then...is the convection heater the one that looks like the thing to catch flies?(erm so sorry i'm not really good at describing that? and do we have to add oil or whatever thing into those oil filled heaters?

Thanks

hey guys,

although I'm the thread starter but I do not reply much as I just started my studies in Australia early this year,I still do go through this thread very often. I do agree on suggestions to include the "names " of those currently studying in Aussie on 1st page, but I'm not sure how to do that. I would be very glad to let other users to create it. Thanks. thumbup.gif

For those who have been in Brisbane for a while: is it normal for the weather to be so hot, even in September? I'm already melting!

I don't need a iphone. I dont need external speakers for it. I dont even look at a K810. I loose weight by cycling and eating 3 (relatively) square meals a day. I dont get a cap plan. My 3220 does the job well, and with Optus' "bigger and better", $30 gets me through 2 months.

You are so true...I plan to get an ipod but somehow i thought that why do I need one since I can still listen to my mp3s on my K750i handphone ( but need to increase memory storage though). I did not sign up for any cap plans either although with what people said about the free phones etc...I dont talk much on the phone and mostly msn with coursemates...$30 gets me through 2 months as well..Actually still can go on for 2.5 months if not of the expirary date.

p/s : I understand your Himalaya coughindooroopillycough statement...haha coz I live in Indroo...Taringa is even worse....hilly up and down...I solute those people walk up hills to their houses everyday as the bus stops are usually downhills.

anyone going to UQ in the coming feb intake??
i'm going to do my 2nd year Bachelor of Commerce in UQ, twinning program from HELP University College
sigh so far i can't find anyone to share accommodation with me..
anyone can give me ur review on Life at UQ?accommodations like international house or all the colleges?on or off campus better?
thanks in advance..

Hey there, current UQ student here...on campus accomodation are usually more expensive compared to off campus and some of the on campus comes with meal provided..if you plan to stay on campus, you should have applied much ealier as places are very limited..you may still be able to apply but seriously do consider off campus as well...pros of staying on campus - located in uni. Im staying off campus myself i.e renting..Personally, I find most international students would be renting a room/unit/house...more freedom, can do own cooking, bring friends home to stay overnight etc...Since you are studying in UQ, popular suburbs for students are St.Lucia, Indooroopilly, Toowong, Auchenflower and City. Hope that helps.Good luck!
