i sold a usb hurb to fmuham at rm15 included postage 2 him and i provide 1 week personal warranty...but after some how.....he claim dat da item recif and it working...then i din pm him anymore till 1 day he pm me and ask for izit come wif adapter...he said dat da usb hurb can detect thumb drive but canr detect his external hard disk...i reply say didnt come wif adapter...then dat time is already pass 1week...then he type an angry msg said i sold faulty thing 2him....well he ask for refund...at 1st i said ok...but after thinking n read crazyrock post bout hp ppl spoilt it themselves i think twice again to refund him onot...coz my personal warranty ady over...i sold da item 2 him on 23 august...so guys...should i refund him??i test on my laptop it work...it can detect...but he said can oni detect thumb drive....so how??i want feed back and opinion frm u guys...thx...is not dat i dun wan refund rm15...juz it is ady over warranty....

im not really sure but the reason it can detect thumbdrive is bcoz the power consumption is low. if u wanna use for HD, then u need a power adapter for it, which usually isnt provided for normal USB Hubs. u could try other stuff like a mouse, a keyboard, an mp3 player, and etc...i think it would work, but if ure planning to use it for other power power consuming stuff id say tough luck.

so dat case it is not faluty rite and i no need to refund rite???

u ask him to test wat i suggested first. if it works then i guess thats the problem. anyway, try to wait for more feedback from more pro forumers here. later i give u wrong info then not good ler.

suggest the buyer 2 get the adapter first,then test it..see whether its working or not...

If it work using other devices then why faulty?

yeah thts true, it's more likely insufficient power supply

the personal warranty is over, any defect after the period u hv the right to not refund him, the fault will be beared by buyer if any, it's his responsibilty to check the item condition within the period

but if u wan to be good, then u help out the buyer by supporting him in troubleshooting the items, or u can refund him RM15 for keeping good names n relationship

if i were u i'll definitely not to refund him, as he didnt take the full responsibility, but somehow i'll give suggestion on how to tweak the things to back alive

1. any pics of ur usb hub? version1.1 / 2.0?
2. wut external hdd he's using? laptop or hdd?

iinm, a normal USB hub cant support an external hdd coz it's not enuf power n u'll need an extra adaptor to do so. so if tats d case den ur item is not faulty afterall it has no prob wif small small items like pendrive

oh ya, if u buy those cheap cheap RM10-15 USB hubs, they dun come wif adaptor, only those RM30-40 comes wif external adaptor to support external hdd

Since tat the unit can work with other component, then tat's mean the unit is not faulty which mean no need refund for him.

Also, it is bad to ask him to buy an adapter himself and if he buy the wrong adapter, it might burn the whole hardisk and include the hub itself.

I ever try buy one adapter outside the shop and try it and at the end, i burn my notebook 7200rpm external hardisk. Lucky the hardisk is still in warranty period, so i claim a new hardisk but the hub is totally spoilt. Now i use the spoilt hub to power my notebook fan. Working fine.

As a buyer, they should learn to check the product details before they buy it from u.

But if u can kind enough to help him, u can refund and take back the hub. At the end, it all depend on u.

Remember this, u are not wrong. But if u provide insuffient info bout the product u sell and the buyer misunderstand, then u can be consider wrong (i think).

Hye all... So sorry for take ur 'time' here..

The reason what i mean with faulty is.. after i plug in the thumdrive to the port, the device still can detect it. But sometimes, the data in my thumbdrive cant be read or accesses!!.. Its just can detect any device, but cant work properly on it.
I think this USB port got something wrong la coz not all port(fyi: this hub got 4port) can work fine.. Maybe 2 or 3 port still in good cond. But my senior staff told me this maybe occurs bcoz the usb cable kaput edi. They dont hv any same cable that i can use it for testing purpose. Thats y i claim this USB hub faulty and cant use it anymore...

I think this seller face with same prob before. But, maybe she's not honest in doing bussiness here. Who cares rite?

Bout the external HDD, nvmla.. I think it is not enough power supply... Maybe i must buy NEW 1 USB hub instead of buying 2ndhand item.. Serik edi la... haizzz.

errr.....i dun have use external hard disk la...so how i knw...i oni use it wif my thumb drive...it can detect and it work great 4 me.....and mind ur word said i not honest...if u dun blif me can ask all the forumer dat have trade wif me b4...check my trade list b4 said i not honest......

Well, that fella mentioned he'll go buy a new USB hub. So I guess the case's over. Furthermore personal warranty over.
Consider something like shop's one year warranty over and manufacturer end of warranty you still wanna go bug them for warranty?
Just because someone is easy to contact and complain against doesn't means you can go around and bug them to do something for you. Try doing that to a shop staff.

About the semi-faulty....like other ppl says, u need power adaptor for HDD (i dont know true or not)...
So if other hardware like thumbdrive and mouse working, so its working...not faulty.
