It's a Tactical Pen. I bought on Ebay or Amazon before (can't remember), don't know if still available. Anyway, if you search for Tactical Pen, you will find lots of different types.

What do you suggest? Carry a gun?

This is Malaysia, not the US where every Tom, d*** and Harry can get a gun license. If TS can get a gun he won't be asking about PDW here. Your 2nd point is valid, most of the time just run away/give wallet, but there are times that is not an option as well. Might as well have something at hand that can give you a little chance - even if only 0.5%. I chose the Tactical Pen not only because it is legal but also because most of the time I can actually use it as a pen. Take note that I can also bring this on airplanes without much scrutiny (have not tried in US though).

Pepper spray, if you can get a good one, then Ok, most that is sold here is almost useless.

I am trained a little bit, although this does not matter if you read my reply properly. I said, if running and giving wallet (which I agreed with you is what should be done first) is not an option, then isn't it better to have something rather than nothing? I would rather Tactical Pen vs Parang rather Nothing vs Parang.
