I feel they are just greedy but then I hear ppl says they produce the chip not enough and unable to met the overwhelming demand!
Suddenly the green camp becomes too popular sweat.gif

Aiya, want more money just honest say so lah... sweat.gif

Not enough chip is some crap excuse... If not enough chip, how come those less popular brand like gainward/zotac still can land their hands on the chips and sell their products at cheaper cost? whistling.gif

But still, this is a supply and demand market. Manufacturers/distro are free to price as they wish, even if overpriced. A higher price will lower down the demands. And they can't price it higher than the point which had a demand far lower than their supply.

Generally, Asus's networking devices are whole lot cheaper in Taiwan (from the PChome).

I somehow agree to this. I feel that RM 1399 is still okay but anything over RM 1450 is over. They are basically gives the same performance...so I guess paying more is better cooling and aesthetics?

Asus's brand is like "premium" in local PC market, true story.

That's what I thought. And for the overkill performance, I get to turn the 2nd card to PhysX when needed.

I hold back because there is also R9 3xx and 20nm Maxwell coming.

Really?

Can't wait to see efficiency overloaded, LOL...

Certainly looks nice for that price tag and it's using a Custom PCB.  smile.gif
But, the overall design looks a bit dull and cheap, probably due to the thin/small HSF.

There's places where Leadtek, Palit, Gainward, etc are selling like RM 1000(more or less) only.

I not sure want to buy 2x GeForce GTX 980 or 2x GeForce GTX 970... XD
I am concern about the noise thingy.  tongue.gif

Price/performance wise, GTX980 just don't worth it.

Might as well consider Tri-SLI GTX970. brows.gif

are their prices (Asus') as inflated as other brands such as Corsair stuff here in m'sia?

because whenever i saw their prices overseas such as in the States, they are not that exaggerating....  doh.gif

We normally use a conversion rate of 4x compared to USD pricing when it come to the big brands (asus, dell, lenovo, HP, corsair and so on)

Just bashing our distributors. No offense
At the end of the day, 0-2 FPS minimum FPS difference doesn't justify RM300 difference after non-factory overclock. It is negligible.

Ekchelli, this time the fault not exactly all on distro.

Even for Taiwan (asus's home base, LOL) the pricing is more than other brands. I guess this time round Asus's demand really too high till they don't mind jack up the price to lower down the demand.

Only US's pricing remain fair.

600watt enough for sli? check with online psu calculator need at least 680+watt. rclxub.gif

currently on 650watt, planning to run another 970 in the future..
*
Theoretical speaking, yes. A proper 650W should be able to power up 2x GTX970.
http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gp.../specifications

Ref 970 is rated for 145W, factor in some factory OC of other cards. We assume it to be under 180W each, or 360W for SLI.

Now you left with about 300W to power up the CPU and other components, which generally far more than enough even for overclocking build.

But as always, if you plan to overclock this that and every single components of your rig plus the factor of PSU degrading due to age, it is always safer to opt for PSU with extra headroom.

which one better?
*
Generally speaking non-ref, aka phantom in this case will be better.

But since 970 is a low power and cool card, cooler factor don't really pay as much roll as the normal situation. So saving 100 bucks from opting the reference cooler is still a pretty viable choice to me.
