Just got the Leadtek GTX970 but man, the coil whine is horrible.
Tried using V-Sync and FPS Cap to limit the GPU load but the problem is still there. |

I've tried 2 games so far. One being COD:AW and an older game, Darksiders 2.

Using Seasonic X-760 power supply and max out at 74CTried using V-Sync and FPS Cap to limit the GPU load but the problem is still there. What is your PSU brand and model? Did you check the temperature? |

Using a FSP Raider 550W, temp maxes out at 70C with fan speed about 55%.
The card was on default, didn't change any settings whatsoever. EDIT: I was using a Zotac GTX760 before this with the same setup and there was no coil whine. This post has been edited by Paradice: Dec 16 2014, 09:46 AM |

That could be your problem. The 750W version ripple is quite high. Not 100% Japanese capacitors. http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=...Story4&reid=310 |

(in fact, I think 970 should be more efficient no?) Because GTX970 is more sensitive. Luck may contribute to coil whine issue too. You can try installing it on friend's pc and see how it goes. Need good PSU though. This post has been edited by TristanX: Dec 16 2014, 10:03 AM |

Coil whine is mainly the issue of GeForce GTX 970 alone.
There's a lot of units affected. But it doesn't mean it'll damage the GPU or something. It's just some noises. But, my guess is, the newer batches might not have this problem anymore, but the older batches do. I am using 2x ASUS Strix GeForce GTX 970(different batches), and if my ears aren't wrong, 1 of them is releasing the noise. And, my PSU is Corsair HX750i which is unlikely to have all these noises. So, I guess, it's not PSU related, but GPU. This post has been edited by DarkSilver: Dec 16 2014, 10:06 AM |

Just some update guys.
did the fan speed up to 70%, still got coil whine. Tried the GPU at my friend's place, he has a Superflower HX600 80+gold, coil whine still present. I guess the conclusion is that my gpu's the cause of it. |

Confirmed it is your GPU. |
