QUOTE(horns @ Sep 17 2015, 12:38 AM) yes w10 doesn't block torrents, and ms eula only affects software, including games, from ms. (think xbox) ms telemetry potentially leads to exposure of torrent trackers (especially private ones), so it was said that some owners are blocking w10. however, since ms already rolled out telemetry stuff into older w7/8.x, i think they might need to think of something else to overcome the issue. for normal users, the easier way is just boot linux liveusb and run transmission for torrents. BTW - telemetry on 7/8.1 is listed as optional features and you can hide them from Windows updates.

QUOTE(horns @ Sep 15 2015, 11:52 AM) which brand? which laptop model? if it's a common problem, i guess a lot of us here and in the world who have the same model with you and accepted the upgrade will report this. (i think it's not that hard to find that out with search engines) many laptop manufacturers have stated in their website which models that they will provide support for w10. it's good to check them out too. for those without official w10 support, you still can do it with a bit of research. as for cases about ms screwing things up at hardware level, the one i am following are these (basically the same case): https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/86...display-panels/http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/wi...-panels.779449/there are also speculations about ms modifying something in our hardware, http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows...atus=allrepliesnote that all these are speculations, with no definite answers yet. if anyone who are not comfortable with hardware/software failures, it's really a good idea to not upgrade. No problems so far - I have upgraded quite a few machines and none of them are having issues. The only problem that I have is the touchpad driver somewhat broke on my laptop, though a driver update from ASUS pretty much solved that for me. QUOTE(pandera999 @ Sep 9 2015, 01:50 PM) user of win10.. please can consider this article for you guys keylogger on win10BTW here is something you can ponder: http://www.zdnet.com/article/no-microsoft-...ith-windows-10/FYI if you actually use the option 'customize settings' during the setup, you can actually turn that off very easily. Heck the setup even tells you what options will be enabled when you select the express settings during setup. So yeah, nothing to worry about for now.

QUOTE(horns @ Sep 20 2015, 04:52 AM) the w10 key that you pulled out with that vbs script is a generic product key. with the w10 upgrade offer, ms server retrieved and stored the unique hardware id of your device online, so that the next time you do a clean install, you don't need to key in product key. (just skip them) after installation is completed, activate it online. that's all. Even if you are prompted by a product key - you can always click 'skip this step' to get past the prompt.
