For those entitled to free upgrade from Win 8.1 to Win 10, how long will the subsequent updates (normal and security) for Win 10 be available?

Should be until end of lifetime of product. Will it be free just like the updates for Win 8.1? But then the confusion is win10 would be based on rolling release so there is no clear way to define its life cycle. Could it be... forever? |

Bet on it.But then the confusion is win10 would be based on rolling release so there is no clear way to define its life cycle. Could it be... forever? Anyway, i have a question: Can i reserve all my PCs/laptops using a single e-mail?? Later they give me only 1 license to upgrade.... |

i am not alone lol! this solved the start menu bug for me.
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums...view2014General tl;dr; i did personalization and turned off all notifications in the start menu. that was the culprit. all fixed now: This post has been edited by horns: Jun 4 2015, 01:17 PM |

after few days of testing my stuff out (not automated scripts this time), i think i'm good to go for w10 upgrade.
as of now, changes made to w10 don't affect a lot on how i use a pc. things that i thought missing previously were found (mostly). |

Since I already installed win10 tp on my win8.1 and I forgot to to make a backup, I hope the license won't be an issue and I can a clean install when 10 is released on July 29. Made a mistake to upgrade before making backup.

for those who wanna do w10 upgrade, make sure you check if everything is what you want. there are several features that will be missing after the conversion, http://www.theverge.com/2015/6/1/8696949/w...10-feature-loss
notably, it's said users have no control on windows updates in w10 home (pro edition is ok). Made a mistake to upgrade before making backup. try to grab the current key. use rweverything or belarc advisor.yeah always do system backup if you wanna do it on your main machines. the better ways for testing only are either use a spare drive or simply make a vm. QUOTE(stasio @ Jun 7 2015, 11:07 AM) Win 10 build 10135 nice thanks! downloaded it just now. this home brew iso is much larger because of combined features. -Core/Pro OEM Retail x64 (homebrew) Multilanguage DVD ISO by WZT.... https://twitter.com/WZorNET/status/607308597517815808 notes from wzor's nfo: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

With Build 10135, to do full update need to change in PID file key.
The pid file is located in x:\wininstalldownload\sources\pid.txt change the pid key to below, save and install. 6P99N-YF42M-TPGBG-9VMJP-YKHCF Btw, Win 10 build 10135 OSBA Pro Link: https://mega.co.nz/#!UQ1EUCIL!VnWzA...hAhqNonaFpnXvAQ http://www.osbetaarchive.net/topic/202-osb...-untouched-iso/ NOTE: This is an untouched, original ISO This post has been edited by stasio: Jun 7 2015, 01:35 PM |

QUOTE(xonedl @ Jun 7 2015, 10:45 PM) 10135... things crashing left and right... most likely it's amd. Spartan crash, explorer crash, software setup crash (or not run at all), AMD driver new or old setup crash... Any recommended stable version to play with? you can try build 10130. except for the custom list bug that caused start menu to fail, and other small bugs, it's relatively stable. |
