Alright so here's the story

I'm 16 as well as my friend,

Both of us planned to visit Seoul next next week.

I tried to book a flight + hotel package just now through Expedia (www.expedia.com.my),

Everything was lancar at first because I found a hostel that doesn't require any age for check-in.

However the problem emerges when I fill in the forms for registering Expedia account.

Expedia stated must over 18 only can book anything from their website.

So I called them 03 - 7724 9556

Guess what, when the line connected to the support team,

all I heard was : !@$!%@#$^!$^#$^@$%&@#$%#$%$@#%# (which I suspect is Tamil speaking)

I kept on saying : Hello? Anybody there?

Replied me after some times but then cut my line off.

I recorded the process down if Expedia wants evidence.

Losing hope in their customer support, I still sent them an e-mail hoping for a chance.

While I'm waiting for their replies,

any young travelers here can shed some lights?

How to book flight + hotel when you're under 18?

Get help from those over 18. I always book for my 14 YO

I'm not travelling with anyone above 18 wor..

So if filling up forms put above 18's info, will say trying to scam or not?

I mean get someone else to book for you. My son can travel on his own after I do the bookings.

i think this is the IATA regulations that all flight passenger MUST be over the age of 18 in order to secure themselves flight tickets

Who know's you maybe quarrel with family and wants to run away with boyfriend/girlfriend.....

There is no such rule as far as I know.

Age requirements are depending on that particular airline.

So far the strictest airline is American Airline that only allows age 18 or above adults to travel aboard.

As for AirAsia,

Anyone aged between 16-18 is consider as adult and don't need to fill in any additional or extra forms.

BUT while AirAsia stated that rule,

I still can't sign up their flight + hotel package in AirAsiaGo.com as well as Expedia.com.my

OMG i don't know why at first say can then later say can't. What a big mistake those travel websites are making.

I thing the better option is booking Aa ticket separately, with permission fr yr parent, use their name to buy the ticket.

For the hotel, maybe u can try those booking website that neednot a cc guarantee, like booking.com. or using yr sibling infor for booking, then pay cash once u arival at their hotel.

Or book those private gh owner which neednot a cc guarantee. Worst come to worst, u need seach in Seoul by yrs own, but it doable.

Hotel Booking must be 18+

This is the rulez applied at whole world

2 thing is must when you doing the hotel booking.
- 18 Above
- Must have Credit Card / Debit Card

Let's say my parents book 2 adult tickets for underage students.

Will those two underage students be able to board the plane even though the DOB registered upon booking is different from the actual DOB?

When doing Airline booking. Boarding ticket are all your detail.
Your name, Your BOD, your IC , Your Passport number etc etc......
Only the payment section are your parent detail only.


Booking Hotel also same.
Your name & your IC ......etc etc.....
Only payment must be your parent detail.....
