Hi everyone,

I'm having this subtitle problem when playing videos with softsub (.srt) on Potplayer

I have tried using other media player such as VLC, SPlayer and Windows Media Player. All are working fine.

Anyone knows what cause this? Pretty sad because i have been using potplayer for such a long time

only 2 method that i know

1. u drag n drop the subtitle into the player

2. u rename the srt file so its the same name with video file (dont rename the .srt tho)

then ur sub will appear

I have done all of your suggestion. But the thing is, the subtitle did appear, but it is in the form of clouds/blobs (as you can see in the pic, the yellow cloud-like area). They come and go during in films conversation (as a normal subtitle would behave)

lol i thought the yellow thing is the video

did u change any settings in the subtitles section? if yes then just restore it to default again

if not, then i recommend to use other player for this particular video, because as u can see by googling. u hardly get any decent hit in google when searching problem by potplayer.

or maybe try to update the player

If i recall correctly, this problem appear after i updated the player sometimes back. No changes to the subtitles settings or anything.

Well, maybe i just have to use other player for the time being

yeah i oso use potplayer but it have this little inconvenience thing n using google dont really help much because there's just not many results.

gom player is better but it starting have problem when playing mkv files thats y i change to potplayer

Which version of potplayer are you using now?

Maybe it is the time to change to more popular player (player that work in your system) - VLC player.

Its call flexibility ...

p/s never use "potplayer" and never hear about it.

I already installed several other alternatives including VLC. Just trying to see if anyone might have encounter the same problem. I've been trying to figure out since forever

If that player is not popular, no one is interested to use it and no one can give you help.

VLC is the best player with a lot functions that you twist it ... and most ppl are using it.
If you asking question about VLC problem, most ppl here will help.

don't give up on PotPlayer, it's the best player around!
In the last version there is a little misconfiguration in subtitle settings that causes the yellow blob thing, you just need to open Preferences (F5) then go to Subtitles/Font Style and then set to 0 (zero) the "2nd outline" parameter (default is incorrectly set to 95 which is way too big!!)

I was a user of Potplayer since it was called kmplayer, and I love it, it's so powerful! I think that the problem of subtitles will be addressed soon in a minor update, it's so evident

I'm glad i could continue being an avid user of potplayer thanks to you. I also been using this player since they were called kmplayer as well
