I am looking for a good video camera.
Totally newbie
Good enough for short film.

Spec that I would prefer:
1080p (at least 60 fps, prefer 120fps)
Won't shake and blurring
Good low light performance

My budget is low, around 2000(the cheaper the better)
Welcome to offer me if you have used unit too
By the way GoPro Hero4 good enough? Any better alternative?

The cheaper model of the gopro hero4 shud be good enuf..depend on what type of video u r making

GoPro video quality isn't exactly great.
The UWA of the GoPro makes it difficult for situations that do not require a wide angle

U mean the GoPro Hero4 Silver?

I heard GoPro Hero can't zoom, is it true?
Do u have any good recommendation?

You can't zoom with the GoPro.
There are work around with that, but I would not use them.

What kind of video are you intending to capture ?
Why the need of 1080p at 60 or 120fps ?

Gopro ain't good for short film cause it is a fix ultra wide angle lens, which works best with extreme sports.
And you said you are totally newbie, but then you prefer 120fps, can explain abit why you need 120fps?

Short film, short story in nature.
I am worrying there will be blurring in background of woods and leaves

Regarding fps, I will feel dizzy when watching 30fps video, so I prefer 45 at least. (But then I saw few cameras can capture in 30/60/120fps, don't have option 45, so I am looking to 60fps, maybe I can adjust in setting)

120fps just an additional feature so I can play with slow motion but not neccesary

I don't mind lower down resolution to 720p if the camera performs well in capturing details of nature elements.

You don't need 60fps.

Videos/movies are not video games.
Most movies are shot at 24 fps.
Do you feel dizzy everytime you watch a movie ?
Even youtube only very recently add support for 60fps.

Key to this reduce dizziness is to introduce motion blur by controlling your shutter speed.

For slowmo. Very few system can capture at 120fps. Perhaps can try your phone.

Oh, so that 30fps at 1080p common in market should be enough?

When I watch this video at 1080p, I am not comfort, feel like abit lag?

Other videos at 1080p of Youtube seems fine, maybe GoPro Hero4 problem?

Do you have any recommendation?

Use 1/(fps*2) for shutter speed.
Using a 1/1000 shutter speed will definitely make ur video look a bit choppy at 30fps.

Personal recommendation...
Just get a second hand Canon 650D for magic lantern or Nikon D3300 if you insist on 60fps.

Yup..the guy is right..dslr is good for video making nowadays..even big budget film use em..nowadays can easily connect with android phones for extra large and mobile viewfinder..hehe

Hi, after did research for whole day, I found Nikon D5300 and D7100, which one better?
I saw D5300 has higher contrast. (some said not good for editing)
Other than that both video quality look same. (Maybe I am too noob to see the difference)



Is it complicated to adjust settings for manual focus?

Picture style faithful, reduce contrast to the lowest.
D7100 may not fit into your budget.

Manual focus is controlled via a physical focus ring on the lens. Difficulty varies from lens to lens.
A follow focus system will help, but it will blow ur rm2k budget.

GoPro is for POV shot or vloging.. for film making is totally not suit at all(depends on the video you want to make), generally doesn't suit...

I'll reckon just get a pro DC like Canon S120 or S110 or S100(later are the latest version) for superb quality..

Is good in image quality, is good in video recording, can shoot raw.. is a super good DC...

gopro good for sports, even taking pictures with it isnt all that great
