Planning to drive down to Kuala Kedah, then take a ferry to Pulau Langkawi. Is there parking at Kuala Kedah? IF yes, what are the rates?

Cannot seem to find any information on Yahoo or Google. I would appreciate some advice and information. Thanks.

got a lot of locals running their own private parking spots and charges range between RM15-25 per day. There's a legal spot in the jetty compound but it's also around that price range and also usually full

Okay thanks man. At least I know the lowest price is RM15. I presume there is no difference in the quality of parking spots between the operator that charges RM15 and RM25.

Because I have to drive further up North which will cover more kilometres if it is Kuala Perlis. Not too sure how far is the exit of Kuala Kedah on North South highway to the exit of Kuala Perlis but I think it is around 40km to 50km or more?

Parking rates at Kuala Perlis with shades? sounds good. If the distance between Kuala Kedah and Kuala Perlis is not too far then I might consider driving a bit more up to Kuala Perlis. Say 10 to 20km which is an additional 5 to 10 minutes drive. If it is an additional 30 minutes drive, then I might be less inclined.

THanks.

Okay thanks. When exiting North South highway via Alor Setar exit, is there a signboard that shows "Kuala Perlis"? I am afraid my GPS may ask me to U-turn and take the North-South highway once I exit Alor Setar. Anyway I'll have a look at the map to see the road that leads to Kuala Perlis once I'm out of the North South highway.

Thanks.

Roughly how many hours from KL to Kuala Perlis? 6 hours?

Also, have to wait long at the ferry at the jetty at Kuala Perlis? How long does it take for the ferry to reach Pulau Langkawi? 30 minutes to 1 hour?

Thanks.

is around 45 mins drive away.
anyway, the ferry ride to langkawi is shorter distance too compare to from kuala kedah. around 30 mins faster.
so do the calculation see whether is worth it or not.
and pls get your ferry tickets before hand especially when you are going duing weekends. always full.

cant comment on the parking location or condition. mostly cramp area to maximize vehicle that they can slot in.
altough you are paying them parking fees, it is still park at your own risk. they wont be responsible for things happen to your car.

Thanks. I think the car parking will take priority over the distance between Kuala Kedah and Kuala Perlis.

Does anybody know which car parking is supposed to be safer in terms of theft and break-ins? Based on statistics or past history. Between Kuala Kedah and Kuala Perlis.

Thanks.

Had the same experience recently.
Never ever let these people escort you; they can do bad things to you if your didnt want to park. It cost me RM120 per for 2 days parking.

But for the rest of the trip, it is relatively safe. Just be careful of these blood suckers.
