so I just bought a canon EOS 600D, and while buying the camera, the guy advised me to buy a UV ray protector for the lens which cost RM 120 , because the lens will then be protected under the hot sun or when outdoor shooting.
hours ago I dropped my camera bag with my camera inside, and the UV ray protector happen to break into pieces since it's glass, everything else is just fine as it is, now my question is this, will it be harmful for my camera to be use under the sun or for outdoor without the UV ray protector ? Or it actually doesn't really matter or make a difference from the beginning?
Your lens would do just fine without any so called UV ray filter in front of it. Yes it is called UV filter, but most people buy it just to act as a protector glass in front of the lens, easier for cleaning and incase impact towards the lens like your case. hours ago I dropped my camera bag with my camera inside, and the UV ray protector happen to break into pieces since it's glass, everything else is just fine as it is, now my question is this, will it be harmful for my camera to be use under the sun or for outdoor without the UV ray protector ? You actually don't need things like this when buying first camera, but they will recommend it to you and say a lot of not so true statements like your sensor/ lens will get affected and degrade by UV from sunlight. Wonder how does it break by the way? By itself or something knocked onto it?
