so I just bought a canon EOS 600D, and while buying the camera, the guy advised me to buy a UV ray protector for the lens which cost RM 120 , because the lens will then be protected under the hot sun or when outdoor shooting.

hours ago I dropped my camera bag with my camera inside, and the UV ray protector happen to break into pieces since it's glass, everything else is just fine as it is, now my question is this, will it be harmful for my camera to be use under the sun or for outdoor without the UV ray protector ? Or it actually doesn't really matter or make a difference from the beginning?

Ahh ok, thanks so much for your answer, it cleared my doubt fully and I can tell myself now that I don't have to waste another RM 120 to buy back the UV filer.

To answer your question, I was carrying my camera bag, and it dropped on the floor in my house, not that hard, just a light drop, and I think it coincidently drop where the lens is facing, but thanks to the UV filer, it died for the lens, otherwise my lens would be cracked or worse.
