If you don't mind third party lenses you can check Tamron and Sigma.

Tamron seems highly recommended for this kind of travel super zoom lens.  The 18-270mm VC PZD is cheaper and reviews are better than canon 18-200mm.  Then the Tamron 16-300mm VC PZD is the newest with the largest zoom range, but more expensive. 

Alternatives are to go with dual kit lens with Canon.  Canon 18-55mm lens + Canon 55-250mm lens.  If you don't mind changing lens this is cheaper and optically better than super zooms.

the Tamron mentioned above has quite a wide field of view. If you want to go wider, then you will have to look for lenses with smaller numbers in their focal length, e.g. 10-22mm

If you are asking all these questions then you have a heck of a lot to learn.

Do you have a kit lens with your camera? Or have you any camera yet?

A kit lens is usually 18-55mm and it will be enough for a beginner like you. My advise if you want to take it is to shoot with this kit lens until you know what lens to get next.

There are 2 types of lenses :

1. A prime lens

2. A zoom lens
Prime lenses are lenses that offer only one focal range. You CANNOT zoom for wider or closer shot. What you see if what you get. E.g. of prime lenses are 50mm, 20mm, 85mm, 135mm, 200mm lenses

Zoom lenses are lenses that can go from one focal length to another by turning the zoom. There will be a range to zoom. E.g. 18-55mm, 18-200mm, 55-200mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm lenses. The 2 numbers indicate the ends of the zoom range i.e for 18-55mm means you can go wide maximum 18mm and tele maximum to 55mm
