Hi Guys,

Not sure where should I post this. Asking those who owns RX10 that shoots for video.

Recently got myself a RX10 for the new XAVC S Codec 50mb video shooting.

and I found myself some trouble to shoot with it as all the Sd Cards Class 10 I own can't shoot with it. I have read it mention needs at least 95mb/s to shoot.

I have a Sandisk 8gb Extreme Pro 95mb/s also I still can't shoot.

Any ideas? sad.gif

Can't wait to play slowmo on this all rounder great camera.

Piotr:  The speed of your current 32 GB card is not the problem.  The problem is that the XAVC-S file format will not work with the FAT32 disk format that all SDHC cards use.

Reformatting a SDHC card to the newer exFAT format will not work either.   XAVC-S will only accept working with a true SDXC card, which means that you need at least a 64 GB card in order to be compatible, as that is the smallest available size for SDXC cards.

Any 64 GB SDXC UHS-1 Class 10 card will be fast enough to record XAVC-S video from your RX10.  Faster cards will only give you the benefit of being able to transfer your video much faster to a computer.  Especially if you use a fast USB 3.0 card reader.

Maybe this is the problem. Needing a new kind of SDXC card instead of the usual SDHC.

Hmmm lucky I didn't jump in to all the new awesome cameras for video yet. But I guess needing new kind of cards will be needed when I do. I'm still waiting for the Panasonic FZ1000 to be in stores then I can physically debate between FZ1000 and RX10.

@Rice_Owl Okay, means i need to spend on 64gb card SDXC.....most of my cards are 16gb and 8gb, din wanna go big cause scared it might fail and only rely on one card.

Anyways, in regards to FZ1000, I had a friend who works in panasonic camera department.
He told me its difficult to bring in the FZ1000 as demand is low. I did manage to play with it few days ago in KLPF as he brought a sample unit from SG (played also the new announce LX100).

My Opinion in FZ1000 and RX10.

both are good stuffs, hard to debate. End of the day, be comfortable with what you have! "Content is King, don't rely much on camera features "

Easiest comparison to make:

FZ1000 - Zoom is Faster, Slightly bigger than RX10, better grip feel, has 4K video, 120fps Highspeed mode (no audio recorded when shooting it, instant slowmo playback at 30fps), File Format friendly. 25-400mm 2.8-4 range, swivel screen, no audio monitoring, Cine D profile,

RX10 - Slow Zooms, smaller, CZ lens 24-200mm 2.8 constant, has audio monitoring, Articulated screen, great IS (active stabilzation mode = very similar to olympus 5axis IS),

Im also interested in the FZ1000 as looking what i mention, clearly FZ1000 has more advantage (since its also newer than RX10) but since most of my investment is already Sony since 2 years back, i ended up with sticking with Sony. Din want to mess up my color profiles in editing flow, not consistant (personal preference thingy) sweat.gif

@redcross, yes for XAVC-S it requires an SDXC card like the one below (from Sony) which I am using on both my RX10 and RX100M3

Thanks, I got all the answers needed. biggrin.gif

Do I need a high write speed card?

Would a SDXC card like Sandisk Extreme 64gb(45mbs) or Extreme Plus 64gb(80mbs) will work?
