How do we become a driving instructor?

First step is (I think) go for SPIM test. Might cost RM1000.

Then? Do driving instructors work at driving schools like full time employees on salary? Or how do they get paid?

Does the driving school provide the students (assigning walk in customers to instructors), or are the instructors left to find students in their own way?

How about the vehicles? These vehicles have a second set of "instructor brakes". They're painted differently. They have to get different insurance, and IINM, JPJ inspects at 6 or 12 monthly intervals. Do the instructors provide these vehicles themselves, or do the schools provide the vehicles.

We sometimes see homes with signs on their front gate offering driving instructions. These instructors don't have regular offices (if they're out teaching, who's going to sit at the office, so have to hire somebody else). They're frequently one-man-shows. Are they full fledged driving schools with permits from JPJ? Or are they semi-independent operator, loosely attached to some driving school?

i try to share what my driving instructor told me.

1. There are two type, full-time and part-time.

2. Full time will work at the academy, part-time more like an agent for that academy

3. Payment im not very sure. what i can see agent get paid how many student registered under their name.

4. My driving instructor do it as part-time. and no need an office coz their whole day is out on the road or go submit document.

5. All vehicles provided by the academy. The academy must be certified by JPJ. coz JPJ people will do driving test at the academy.

This may not accurate. Maybe someone who acknowledge could explain more.

basic + lesson(ceramah /driving)  commission + sales commission if agent

walk in get distributed.for the agent, mostly student will stick with the agent lah since that's the uy that handle he/she from day one. unless the student choose to learn from other instructor, for example, female student want to learn from female driver, or language barrier problems.things like that.

agent can buy the vehicle on their own or use school provided ones.school will assign to those without own car and of course they have to look after it. "instructor brakes" is simple mod only.they just rip out the glove box and weld some metal to the original pedal

they can be licensed instructor attached to school or just salesman without instructor(cannot teach you, just hantar to driving school complex only)
