You gotta know which unit counters which unit. Like...point those spearmen at cavalry, cavalry flanks and hit and run.

Also big difference between light and heavy units, so dont waste arrows at those heavy infantry. Pincer attacks are always good.

And if you have a chokepoint, hold em off with infantry while peppering em with arrows. Or let one enemy unit in, attack with three of your units and repeat till all dead.

Or turn the difficulty down and just charge.

I really hate those horse archers though.
