QUOTE(bitebug @ Oct 6 2014, 12:07 AM) If made-of-glass sturij was on field yesterday, i have no doubt we at least would be able to score 3 judging from all the chances we had around the box. lambert is definitely not a starting XI material, perhaps not even a Liverpool caliber player. Suarez would have scored all the missed chances players like sterling and lambert had in our recent games. Struj is made of glass and Balo's injury record is pretty good. We should definitely be looking at another striker in the mould of Sturj. Remy would've been a good fit. Borini is not good enough and Lambert would make a good 4th choice backup.Should Balo still fail to score goals when sturij comes back, then rodgers definitely need to have a long discussion with the owners regarding the winter transfers. Either recall Origi or splash some big bucks for another striker. At the other end, De Gea made multiple game winning saves while our Mignolet couldn't keep Everton out. Jag's goal was a superb shot but the saves De Gea had to make were equally difficult. |

QUOTE(carloz28 @ Oct 6 2014, 09:35 AM) Didn't watched the game as I'm out for dinner so no comment. Just relieved they won. It's good to see some other players step up instead of just relying on Gerrard and Sterling. A pat on Lallana's back but he needs to bring up his A game week in week out. To be fair though, Lallana has been our best player for the past few games since he came into the first XI. Far more consistent than Coutinho at the moment. There's no point scoring a goal this week but goes missing for the next 5 games. But I can't help but to notice this...Over the years, from Evans era until now, Liverpool do possess a special uncanny ability that no other team has in BPL.....they will win games when no one expect them to win and they tend to disappoint you when you expect them to win. Maybe it's just me. |

QUOTE(3rdElements @ Oct 6 2014, 11:49 AM) Sakho & Lovren was doing ok with PSG / Soton or even nation team but why both of them is quite shaky with L'Pool ? Strategy or perhaps coach Then again Stevie is far from being good enough defensively to cover for our defence. Immense amount of stamina needed to patrol from left to right all game. In fact, a similarly aging Pirlo is positioned in front of Vidal/Marchisio and Pogba because he can no longer cover the defence by himself.i've to admit that i like how is Chelsea defend against Arsenal, solid and steady. maybe L'Pool should sign defensive coach or get Chelsea defensive coach Defence will be much better if we sign someone who can protect the back four like Matic. Lucas for me is not good enough. I'm sure Skrtel and Lovren are equally frustrated at how easily attacks bypass our midfield area leaving them to do too much with too little. |

QUOTE(melt @ Oct 6 2014, 04:03 PM) Yes Matic, he can be consider as one of the best DM currently. I guess most fans would prefer winning but I would rather see my team win beautifully or at least be proactive instead of reactive. I understand Mourinho wins games but I've never enjoyed watching his team play, neither did I enjoy Woy's Liverpool or to a certain extent even Rafa's Liverpool apart from 09-10.As for Chelsea tactic, they defence as a team where their work rate is incredible. Last season you dont see Oscar throwing his body or even running up and down to protect the defence but now its totally different. As a fan I dont mind my team winning ugly as well as long as we get 3pts If all I want is for my team to win then I have no reason to watch them live on TV. I just have to open Livescore to check if we win at full time. When times are desperate though winning trumps everything. I'm sure Arsenal fans would give everything to have them win again instead of playing beautifully without winning. |

QUOTE(kevafk @ Oct 7 2014, 03:35 PM) He makes the diff actually we'll be surprised haha. Attacking wise he is better in running into position. But he has habit of losing possession. Dribble and stuff.. It's not like Manquillo is faultless either. The penalty conceded started from him giving away possession cheaply and his inexperience shows at times. He may be still one of the key player this season b4 we offloading him. Not a great idea but Manquillo still young and new in PL Just glad Johnson is back despite how bad he has been for we have no backup to Manquillo at the moment. For him to have to play every minute since Johnson went down to injury is harsh on the boy. There are many times late in the game when you can actually see him gasping for air, being unable to catch up to pacey players and having cramps on the pitch. It was especially noticeable during the 120 minutes Boro game and the one after. |

QUOTE(yeelong @ Oct 9 2014, 02:03 PM) BR need to stop asking BR track back to help on defends unless dead ball/corner situation. He needs to be in the box to receive ball. He can either control shoot or create for teammates. Nope. Just watch his AC Milan games. He is neither mobile nor is he a penalty box striker. Most of his goals during that time came from long range shots or set pieces. It's definitely his tendency not manager instructions and he has to change that bad habit of shooting too much from range. |

Balotelli headed to Merseyside as the summer transfer window came to a close. He signed for Brendan Rodgers despite the Northern Irish boss "categorically" denying he would buy the Italian, but he has struggled to fit into the team's busy style of play.
Slovakian stalwart Skrtel suggests the same disconnect is apparent in the dressing room. "Mario has not fully opened up to us," said Skrtel, as reported by James Dickenson of the Express. "But I think that the stories about him are not always true. When I met him I found out that he is totally different person than the way he is presented." Skrtel appears to be referring to the plethora of headline-grabbing occurrences that have constricted Balotelli's career. Although the centre-back offers a half-hearted attempt at defending his new team-mate, he does little to dispel suggestions that Balotelli remains a lone wolf. The centre-back's comments also follow on from Ian Darke's report for ESPN FC, in which he revealed, "Sources have told me that some of [Balotelli's] team-mates at Anfield are none too impressed by his individualistic approach." Rodgers recently admitted his new signing "has not hit the numbers he will have wanted," as reported by Andy Hunter of The Guardian. Balotelli has scored just one in seven appearances and has spearheaded Liverpool's attack without the verve expected of him. His movement is lazy, he appears uninterested, and he is too willing to shoot from distance when more effective options are available. |

Liverpool have reportedly failed in their attempt to sign former Barcelona star and free agent Victor Valdes after the keeper turned the club down.
The Anfield club have long been linked with a move for Spaniard Valdes to act as first-team competition for current No 1 Simon Mignolet. Arsenal and Monaco were also considered as suitors for the 32-year-old upon his release from Barcelona, but the Reds have emerged as the favourites within the last month. Liverpool, who sit ninth in the Premier League table currently, have been prepared to wait for Valdes to recover from a knee injury that has put him out of action since March. With the indifferent form of Mignolet polarising opinion, the availability and pedigree of Valdes - who spent 12 years at the Nou Camp - has been discussed as the solution to Brendan Rodgers' problem at the back. But it has now been reported that Liverpool's efforts to sign the keeper have failed. According to numerous national newspapers, Valdes has rejected the offer of a four-day 'trial' to prove his fitness before sealing a move to Anfield. The news come as a blow to the club, who have conceded 10 goals in seven Premier League games so far this season, with their defensive record coming in for significant scrutiny. In better news for the club, they are now considered the frontrunners to sign MK Dons midfielder Dele Alli, 18, who is rated at £9million, while Raheem Sterling's new contract will reportedly see his wages nearly trebled. |

Victor Valdes' agent has dismissed a report claiming the former Barcelona goalkeeper had rejected a move to Liverpool after being asked to undergo a trial.
Valdes is currently available on a free transfer after deciding to leave Barca in the summer and has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield. However, he has been injured since March after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and the Sunday People reported that Reds boss Brendan Rodgers had asked the keeper to undergo a four-day trial to prove his fitness. The newspaper had claimed that, as a result, the move had collapsed, but agent Gines Carvajal told Sport: "Liverpool didn't ask us to train for four days. We haven't rejected it because it [the story] is false. "Neither Brendan Rodgers nor Liverpool have ever made us this proposal, at any time." Valdes, 32, opted to leave the Camp Nou as he wanted to experience football outside Spain. |

QUOTE(prophetjul @ Oct 13 2014, 04:29 PM) Nowadays the food is also very synthetic, lots of growth steroids. Gotta disagree. Sports science and nutrition have come a long way. Just compare something observable like muscle mass or average height of athletes of each decade and you will notice fairly noticeable differences. In the old days, everything was pretty much natural. Therrefore stronger and natural bodies. No doubt football is played much more aggresively 20-30 years ago though and it's not just football, the same can be said of many other contact sports back then including basketball. But I don't think they are less susceptible to injuries as a result, it's just that they are much tougher and more used to playing in pain. It doesn't matter how tough you are, if a muscle's gonna tear it will and it will get weaker with each injury, this is only natural. Better protection of players though means less injuries and enables athletes to prolong their careers. This post has been edited by Cloud0890: Oct 13 2014, 08:16 PM |

QUOTE(prophetjul @ Oct 13 2014, 10:03 PM) Then you gotta ask why they tear so easily? Was only using muscle tear as an example. Muscle pulls/strains/tightness are still the more common ones seen today. Significant tears like torn hamstring or an Achilles tendon rupture or ACL injury are still rare and these injuries usually require more than 6 months to recover from and even after that it's likely that the athlete will suffer noticeable performance loss as a result. In the past if it is just a minor knock or strain they are made to play through the pain barrier. Tough men but possibly detrimental in the long term.Muscle tears in the old days are a rarity. More are like muscle pull. But tears? Also have to take into account our improvement in the area of medical diagnosis and news reporting. Medical improvements allow us to make better diagnosis of the type of injury and the estimated length of recovery, this piece of news is then made public with detail. In the past such news are not as widely reported and even if they are reported they obviously lack the reachability of the internet. |

QUOTE(lcy851031 @ Oct 14 2014, 09:11 AM) After Revealing Raheem Sterling complain of tiredness, Hodgson now questioning BR's method of two day recovery for speedy type player. “Raheem might say it is something that is becoming ingrained in him and that he felt the need to talk about being tired more than he would normally do,” Hodgson said. Why always him? “But we have never had any problems with that. I don’t think there is a lot of medical evidence to support the ‘two day recovery’. So if you want to, you might want to research that one. “Certainly, the Germans who you admire so much – they don’t do it. That is for certain. Those are Woy's words and maybe he should look at how many German first teamers were out injured during the past 2 international breaks. |
