Didn't read the thread this morning, did anyone stayed up to watch all the penalties? Can't imagine how you would feel.

That's the worrying part. Looking at the team sheet, we could have steamrolled Boro, yet it took a record breaking pen to settle it. Totally disappointing no matter what BR says about the team post match.

If we fielded our youngsters, then I'll rejoice but man.... how to face the big boys with this kinda performance? We're in for a rough and tough ride, guys. Don't think we'll get top 4 again unless we really wake up.

Also, I feel our team play is very one dimensional. No plan B. We pride ourselves with pass and press. Go for early kills and it worked wonders last season. Now, teams know how to frustrate us and suffocate us. Up front, we do not have the magic of Suarez anymore but the rest seems to retreat into their shells. :'(

Need players to stand up to the plate and be counted. Otherwise, even Europa League qualification will be and remain a dream.

Not to forget that Boro played with less intensity, less pressing and closing down and they gave more space to us compared to EPL team.

Btw, I just watched the replay, and why the hates on Toure? The penalty obviously is from the miss pass from Sterling(a stupid through pass to the Boro player), and its Sakho that didn't intercept it(which I will not blame Sakho). Then Toure sprint on to clear the ball, but unfortunately, he's too late and fouled the Boro player instead.

QUOTE(melt @ Sep 24 2014, 11:56 AM)
Sometimes I do wonder is that really BR fault or player but is there a REAL answer?  hmm.gif

BR can use whatever tactics but in the end players is the one who is going to execute it.

As for the new signing... some looks good some looks poor. Everyone have their own reason...
*
IMO, everything will goes down to the manager no matter what.

The new and old players mostly is bought by BR himself, so if they can't live up to the expectation, BR is to blame.

And for the players skills, fitness, mental strength, position, and formation everything is down to the manager way of training. His tactics too, they will have a go with the tactics at the training ground for sure, so if its not working, BR should find a way of improving it.

I will not blame the players, unless they purposely put a goal into our own net, or purposely get a red card.

Well, kudos for the win, but I am really disappointed with the performance, like what farisq said, Boro doesn't press us much like what the EPL team does. Yet we can't capitalise on it, so something is really wrong here.

Plenty of deceptive depth in the squad. Deceptive because while the squad is big, the quality isn't really there laugh.gif Looks like Markovic has been the most disappointing signing so far.

Another worrying part is how the team needs certain players to play in order to get positive results. No Sturridge, so difficult to win games.

Yes agree... I would send him to reserve and take Suso instead. Surely he can't be worst than Marko

during the penalties, i even lied to myself by convincing myself that i don't care anymore about penalty results, just to ease the intensity during penalties doh.gif doh.gif

this. we had LOTS of space, but unable to utilize and capitalize. no urgency in the game. hats off to Lala who literally carried the team, attacking wise while also occasionally helping out at the back.

i was praying for both keepers to have their chance. happy to see it biggrin.gif

is there an unspoken mutual agreement that keepers should let each other score? coz i swear i saw both keepers like half hearted against each other? biggrin.gif

Both of them looked half hearted the entire shootout.

seriously, someone has to. apart from Lala and Sterling, no one is really controlling the ball in attack. they were the ones who controlled the ball and they were also the one who made lots of runs while other attacking personnel's stats for those contribution is seriously lacking during that match

Unconvincing win against Stoke on first match of the season

loss to Villa 0-1 (at home)

need last min to win against Lud (at home)

loss to WH (away)

Fail to win against Championship side, (and leak 2 goals as well) and need 30 penalties to get through

This is Liv after spent 100 mil over the summer? sweat.gif

the way we play is different now. a few points that i see. here are my humble yet maybe not accurate opinion:

1 - teams know how to play us. they know what they must do. learnt from chelsea, which is, to be organized and compact when defend against us

2 - suarez gone. hence, teams have less one major thing to worry. no worry = no panic = better defending

3 - we missed sturridge upfront. hence we lost pace...

4 - sterling now very suspect. can score but now easily play bad passes and make bad touches most of the time

5 - we should regret not signing Remy. he could have offered pace upfront... lambert too slow. to the next point:

6 - the balo we used to know is not known to tracking and defend. now we are asking him to play a new style. will the new style stifle him? we should expect a different balo now. we should maybe also expect less goals from him

7 - mignolet was one of the best when we signed him. now no longer

8 - gerrard really needs to be dropped

9 - lallana and marko - waiting for them to hit high gear

10 - don forget Can...

11 - lovren - too eager to impress

12 - vice captain should be skrtel

13 - sell lucas to napoli

just my 2 cents on the season so far
