Hi, I want to ask some questions regarding my rig. I've been long time not involved in O.C activity, so its like being a noob again. I'm having some problems with it lately. I've been using it for around 1,5 years now.
1st, The temps. I don't know what software to use to display the temps correctly. Now I'm using the latest nTune software where it reads : 37C for CPU, 40C for system, and 57C for GC. For CPU it's running on 2025 MHz with 1.3625 VCore. For G.C, it's normal setting. Are these readings normal ?
2nd, The noise. Sometime comes an annoying noise from my PC that lasts for a while ( less than 1 minute ). I figure it out that the noise come from my chipset cooler. Something seems wrong with the fan, I don't know, from the nTune reading, it seems that the fan is running on half of it's regular RPMs. I wonder why this happens and should I change this fan.
FYI, last time before the warranty expired, I brought it to the store because my system can't run after I haven't turned it on for 1 whole months. The engineer told me that there's a problem with a pair slot of the RAMs. After few days, they told me that they fix the problem already. But I figure out that they only change the chipset fan and flash the BIOS to the newest one.
I wonder if this chipset thing relates to my PATA H/D seems fail after booting it for a while and my new SATA H/D sometimes fail. Is my H/D really broken already or it's only the M/B problem ?

1. Those temperatures are perfectly normal, nothing to be worried about. 2. The stock HSF for chipset sux, just change to Evercool VC-RF/RE but i changed mine to Thermalright NB-1C. As for the evercool it's about RM 40 and can be get from dinster at bulk order

Hm ... Perhaps it's time to change the chipset fan anyway. Any consideration other than the Evercool VC-RF/RE ? Is it easy to install ?

U have other options like thermalright, but then evercool is damn cheap and it's easy to install. Just swap out the old HSF and install the new one in, piece of cake

Is the mounting just the same as for the chipset ? And then what's the difference between the RC and RF series ? Only the free RAM sinks ? Anyway, thanks for the info dude.

Sold my winnie, buy opty. Deal sealed. Now problems coming ... Everytime I boot into windows, it keeps crashing when loading the background processes after logon. Tried boot in safe mode, can. Tried boot in safe mode + networking, also can. But under the device manager, it only says processor. Not "Opteron 144". Headache, now install fresh windows in another harddisk. Seems stable so far. Now can detect properly already. I wonder what's the problem. There's an anomaly also : when using cpuz to detect, my proc codename and processing can't be detected a.k.a blank. when using cbid it detects san diego core. Is there anyway I can use my old windows since I have installed so many programs and games there so lazy to install all over again..... ?
