I used to believe as you did, but not anymore. While you can make awesome progress with 45mins to 1 hour, some programs require longer periods. I know DoggCrapp and HIT style take around 45 mins per session but not programs like HVT, 5 x 5, HST or ICE. Like now i'm on the Madcow's 5 x 5 Single factor. Day 1 requires 1.5 hours. And triple rep PR days on Day 3 require almost 2 hours.
The thing is, if you guys know you're workout period might exceed an hour or more, add in extra fat or carbs to your pre workout shake or meal.
