OCBC BT to MBB
HLB BT to MBB Faxed on 17th (Friday), BT credited on 23rd (Thursday). Minus the weekend and depavali, MBB took only 3 working days to credit the BT to my OCBC and HLB. Well done MBB cards. |

QUOTE(simplesmile @ Nov 15 2014, 07:49 AM) Thank you. If you pay RM1k, you enjoy zero interest loan. Your next outstanding balance is 11kCan anybody explain how the repayment of the Balance Transfer works? Example I have RM12k with Bank A, and I transfer RM12k to Bank B at 0% interest for 12 months. Do I have to pay RM1k every month to Bank B? Or I can pay the minimum amount which is 5%, means RM600 only? If you pay RM600, approx RM200 interest will be charge to your account. Your next outstanding balance is 11.6k. So you are basically repay RM400 principal loan amount only. |

QUOTE(David83 @ Nov 17 2014, 09:54 PM) Sorry to ask stupid question. Assuming the cost of fund for Maybank is 3%, giving out this BT loan will only cost MBB 1.5% p.a. because the BT will be repaid in 12 monthly installments. With 0% interest and no processing fee, how or what does bank earn from BT? Like AEON, they even offer points for BT. Just wondering ... Maybank just need to bet on less than 10% of the BT customers will pay the minimum amount, so that the normal 1.5% to 1.8% p.m. Interest can be charged upon card members in order to break even and make profit. The same goes to the card member who place the BT money for 12 months 4% FD and repay Mbb promptly every month. The card member actually getting effective interest of 2% pa. only. BT 50K and put in 12 mths 4% FD with only yield you rm1k interest effectively. But it is free money, why not. This post has been edited by aeiou228: Nov 18 2014, 12:23 AM |

QUOTE(lamode @ Nov 18 2014, 02:58 PM) I have confirmed MBB allows overpaid credit to be used to BT, done the bolded part and approved. Bro, need clarification from you.13 NOV - emailed BT form and AEON statement to MBB @ mbbcardservices@maybank.com.my 13 NOV - Received human acknowledgement email 17 NOV - ONE TIME CHARGE 17 NOV - WAIVER appeared in M2U 18 NOV - Requested overpaid amount to be refunded to MBB SA. Payment clear in AEON - Hopefully sometime this week. There are two overpaid scenarios here, which one you were referring to ? 1) Your AEON statement bal is say 2k and you apply BT from MBB 5k, therefore you're AEON is overpaid by 3k. Then you ask AEON to refund to your MBB SA or before MBB pay AEON, you requested MBB refund the overpaid 3k to your SA? 2) Say your MBB CL is 10k and you have already BT 9K max. In order to BT again, you overpaid or rather prepaid your MBB account 9k then you BT another 9k again. But what is the benefit of this type of prepayment to BT again ? |

QUOTE(lamode @ Nov 21 2014, 02:48 PM) 1. i can't clarify it any cleaer, pls refer to my previous posts. But if you use your money to over-pay/prepay your MBB credit card account to recover back your max-out credit line in order to apply additional BT again, aren't MBB will hold back your prepayment as a collateral against the additional BT loan ?? 2. after the bold part got approved, withdraw the 9k and put into FD or other investment for interst la. If MBB refund your prepayment, then the total BT loan will exceed 90% of your approved credit line. Isn't it against MBB's BT lending policy ?? |

QUOTE(simonhtz @ Dec 1 2014, 03:09 PM) I'm going to try out the Maybank balance transfer thingie, seems like a good deal. Out of curiosity, how does Maybank make money from this? If Maybank were to absorbed my debts from another bank and let's say I pay up on time for the next 12 months, the bank does not make any money at all? Cheers guys and to you guys who are doing BT, hope we can clear off all of our crazy debts. QUOTE(daredevil_76 @ Dec 4 2014, 06:26 PM) Guys - sorry I am a BT dummy. I always thought it's some 'scam' haha. I guess I am in a bit of a problem now and have racked up a lot of CC debts on my one and only Citibank CC (I don't have any other credit cards at the moment). I am thinking of a way to try to reduce the amount of interest I am paying. Appreciate if the SIFUs here can advise 1. Yes.Current situation : 1. Citibank Credit card (RM52k owed) - payment due on 23rd each month. I only have one credit card. 2. I am paying about RM 2.4K monthly minimum now (I am trying to reduce the amount I need to pay monthly if it's possible?) Appreciate your advise on the following questions 1. Is it advisable to do a BT ? 2. If it is - which bank ? 3. What amount should I BT if I can pay about RM 2.4 K monthly (max) and what would be my minimum be for Citibank and what amount would I need to pay to the BT bank? 3. I suppose I must apply for a new CC with the target bank before I can BT ? 4. What documents must I furnish my current bank / target bank with ? 5. How long does it take before it takes into effect? Sorry - noob at this Thx DD 2. Any bank that give you free BT and zero interest easy payment like MAybank cards. 3. Amount is 90% on your new Credit card approved credit line limit. 3. Yes. 4. Any official documents that can prove your income. Payslip, bank statement EA form, income tax return. 5. Maybank BT needs 2 working days only. |

QUOTE(MGM @ Dec 9 2014, 06:28 PM) Emailed to MBB on 8-Dec the unbilled transactions of my AEON CCs as the next statements will only be available on 12-Dec. So You AEON BT to MBB then MBB BT to AEON then repeat the process again and again until promo ends. You no need to pay CC liao Today 9-Dec 5pm received a call from MBB CS saying will process the application. |

QUOTE(MGM @ Dec 9 2014, 09:44 PM) Yes that is the idea, too bad CL for AEON is only 37% of MBB's. Only thing is must monitor the ever increasing debt, estimate ~rm30k. This amount if put in FD will generates rm1200 interest. Can not get full 4% FD interest la. Because of monthly repayment. 2% effective can la. But if you can play the juggernaut between AEON and MBB as planned until promo ends, maybe can increase the effective yield to 2.5% or max 3% |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Dec 10 2014, 10:46 PM) I told them, not to double pay me. However, I only received one call so far. So should be safe I guess? No it's not dangerous at all. If AEON double pay, you get it refund from MBB then place FD to earn interest. I will tell them to only process one, will email them now. Yeah, very dangerous. Though I'm pretty OK when comes to financial management but I don't want to spend so much of future money. Scary, no more BT... QUOTE(tifosi @ Dec 11 2014, 12:21 AM) Still can survive. If cannot then just swipe for meals to enter into infinite BT loop Wise move, bro.Yeah. BT is advantageous to discipline people. Need alot of tracking. Like for me, my available CL is on top of my mind always so I don't get embarrassed when swiping And I make sure the money I suppose to pay goes into my loan account and not iPhone 6 |
