It's being reported that Warner Bros. is developing a Suicide Squad movie.
It's also said David Ayer is being courted to direct the film.
The news comes from Variety that states sources tell them WB feels Ayer is a perfect choice for the "dark and edgy" film.
David Ayer directed Fast and the Furious, Training Day, Sabotage and the upcoming Fury Brad Pitt film.
According to the report, the Suicide Squad characters will likely have an opportunity to cross over between other DC film properties and vice versa for non-Suicide Squad members appearing in the film.
It's said the Suicide Squad will not be made up of any major villains like Joker or Lex Luthor.
However, as in the comics, there is always potential for characters to be used that are connected to the larger DC heroes and villains such as with Harley Quinn, who was featured in an extended deleted scene in Arrow.
The Suicide Squad recently appeared as part of the second season of CW's Arrow, with the team made up of a batch of villains. This post has been edited by firedauz: Dec 3 2014, 01:22 PM

Sauce: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=124067QUOTE Suicide Squad Targets Ryan Gosling, Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Tom Hardy!
On the heels of this morning's massive update to Warner Bros. Pictures' schedule of DC Comics adaptations comes word, via The Hollywood Reporter, that the first of the newly-announced films, David Ayer's Suicide Squad, is already courting some serious talent. According to the outlet, Ryan Gosling, Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie and Will Smith have all been approached for roles.
Created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru back in 1959, the Suicide Squad team has included countless DC villains among its ranks, including Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Bane, Killer Frost, Poison Ivy, Count Vertigo, Deathstroke, and Harley Quinn. The CW's "Arrow" introduced their own version of the team in the most recent season of the series and the recent animated film, Batman: Assault on Arkham, offered another version of the team.

Long story short (my guess laaa).. Suicide Squad is probably DC's answer to Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, where a group of bad guys team up to somewhat become good guys, and will tie in with the Avengers movie later on. Suicide Squad might join with The Justice League perhaps?

WARNER BROS GOES FREE-FLOW ON $$$$$$$$$$$$ QUOTE Will Smith As Deadshot Deadshot is a skilled assassin and criminal mastermind with one of the more tragic backstories in the entire comic book world. He accidentally shot his brother while trying to take out his abuse, good for nothing father. Given Will Smith’s personality, we can probably expect this version of the character to be a fast-talker who is good with people.
Jared Leto As The Joker Immediately following the release of The Dark Knight, it was assumed we wouldn’t see another version of The Joker for quite awhile. After all, who would possibly want to follow in the shoes of Heath Ledger, who won a posthumous Oscar for one of his epic final roles. Jared Leto, however, has all the momentum in the world coming off his own Oscar victory. He’s also long proven to be a man who makes unusual and interesting decisions. So, the fiendish clown and criminal mastermind it is.
Tom Hardy As Rick Flag Rick Flag is the leader of the Suicide Squad. He’s not the biggest fan of a lot of the members and has a very complicated moral relationship with what the team is doing. He’s got a pretty good heart though and he should provide a different perspective from what we’ll get with the other anti-heroes. Tom Hardy should also prove perfect for the world as the straighter arrow who is physically intimidating.
Margot Robbie As Harley Quinn Harley Quinn is one of the coolest comic book characters ever written. On the outside, she’s an extremely sexy and seductive villain, but underneath, she’s the special kind of sociopath that is endlessly fascinating. She’s deadly. She’s perverse, and her on-again, off-again relationship with The Joker should provide some great comedic moments for the film.
Jai Courtney As Boomerang Is Jai Courtney having a pretty epic five year stretch or what? He keeps finding his way in these mega-projects. Fortunately for fans, he should be perfect here as Boomerang (a.k.a. Captain Boomerang), an ex-professional baseball player who was forced out of the league for accepting bribes. If done incorrectly, the villain could come off incredibly goofy, but we’ll just have to trust director David Ayer that he knows what he’s doing. Besides, considering how many different comic characters he could have chosen from, he must see something special here.
Cara Delevingne As Enchantress Enchantress is a pretty terrifying sorceress with a weird thing for duct tape. She can heal people. She can walk through walls. She’s incredibly powerful, but exactly how many of those powers Suicide Squad will choose to use is unclear. Considering model Cara Delevingne is playing her, there’s also the possibility DC will choose to ramp up the sex to 11 here too. We’ll just have to see.
