I know right. I was shaking my head damn hard when I first watched the damn review video a long time ago. When it first came out. A few days later or so. CLA should be up against A3 and maybe 1 Series or 2 Series.

it is not a perfect comparison but closes would be

Audi A3 Sedan vs Merc CLA vs BMW 2-series Active Tourer
* bodytype: 2 series doesn't have a sedan, and the AT is the closes to A3 and CLA although it is suppose to be an MPV it is more of a raised hatch similar to the Merc B-series
* drivetrain: they are all front wheel drive automatics with similar engine capacity and output
