Making a call from iPad will never happen, it has never been in Apple's plan to allow their tablets to make phone calls, although you can still use Facetime, Skype, etc.

I saw a new app called "Tips", it highlights what are some of the new stuffs you can do with iOS 8.

Just updated my iPad mini with RD this morning and yet to fool around with it to see how is the performance after updating, but as far as smoothness is concern, everything is fine and dandy, no lags or anything of that sort.

As per previous iOS updates, iPhone users will feel more of the difference than iPad users. I think the only features of iOS 8 that excites me is Handoff and Family Sharing, as of now Handoff is still unavailable, and I've yet to set up the family sharing part... will update once I've done so over the weekend.

- Photo App - No more Camera Roll has been changed to Recently add, but cool thing is u able to categorize your photo to Favorite, and after deleted in recently apps it will moved to '' Deleted album''.

- Now you can add widget in Notification center and customize it.
- Appstore redesigned.
- Support 3rd party keyboard (You can download in Appstore)
- New interface on Control center. (Uglyyyy)
- Able to check Battery usage in setting.
- iCloud Drive added.
- Double tap it will have recents contact icon above.
- Tips apps - Get familiar with iOS8 (Cannot be delete)
- iMessage - Record voice and video directly in Apps.
- Mail apps with more shortcut key.
- Handoff (Not available yet)
- Family Sharing feature

yup im using ipad 2. A bit lag after update. And my Ibook apps sometimes become blank. not sure bcuz of new OS or not. but before nvr happen

using iPad mini and swift keyboard. Lags and regretted the upgrade. There are many apps which remain incompatible for now. Advise is t9 wait

For me ios 8 was not very wow... Most of the features update r copying from android, like safari full screen, keyboard word recommend, camera self timer...
I update mine on iPad 3, speed wise still good, but seems like a little lagging on fb apps...

Most people thinks that iOS 8 brings design changes but it's more to added functionality. Just think of it as if you are getting a new engine and interior to an existing car. From a design point, it wouldn't be a good move to change design again from iOS 7 to iOS 8 when they already had an overhaul last year.

Upgraded mine on the launch date. Haven't had any issues so far. Everything works fine, just as it is. Except that the fact the keyboard doesn't keep the current keyboard settings? I used the SwiftKey keyboard but, somehow it does not keep on with SwiftKey but reverted to iOS keyboard.

As for lags, I have not experienced it so far. And, unfortunately(either mine's got something wrong or what sort) the swipe up multi-tasking gesture seems laggy(since 7.x.x). Anyone having this issue?

And also, Skype does not seem to be able to download? It kept installing since the night I updated, continuing thru the morning.

was getting the occasional freeze on ipad air after updating to iOS 8. RARELY happen if it did at all prior to iOS 8.

Really? Which app will restart the iPad? I've never encounter such freeze or restart. The most annoying thing I'm facing right now is I can't tap on the status bar to go up when in FB app.

iOS 8 have lotsa bugs that need to be fix... its very unstable... although iOS8.0.2 enhance a little speed, but sometimes my screen just freeze and unable to scroll, ended up restart the ipad but the assistive touch still function, just freeze in the apps.
and like the other apps, Line apps, i know its not compatible with ipad, but i dont have any issue when using iOs7 and older. it will become half screen and you need to reboot the apps in order to make it run normally..

I felt like iOS 8.02 really sucks. It was working fine with iOS 8. After update, now safari tend to hang a lot for no reason. I'm switching to chrome until Apple iron it out.

if apple continue giving such product soon or later it will be replace by other company... will never spend so much money on apple, unless they really show more improvement or drop the price from 2k+++ to 1k... hehe... this is now like degrading...

My iPad Air has been restarting regularly since iOS 8. It'll go to a brief black screen in the middle of something - any random app, once even from the home screen, and then show the apple logo as it does a soft reboot. Extremely annoying - happens every few minutes, especially if I change apps. If I stick to one app it tends to not happen as much. I thought iOS 8.0.2 would fix it but it's the same thing. Has rendered my iPad almost useless for important stuff that I can't afford it to crash on.

Apparently lots of people have the same problem, on iPad Minis as well - and the only solution, which is still a temporary one (it starts crashing again after a few days, I heard) is to restore to new, which wipes out everything. Then have to download all apps again. I have a 128gb with loads of apps - it's way too big a task to start from scratch again.

Totally unacceptable from Apple.

izzit the compatible issues of ios 8.02 against most the apps? i get the apple logo reboot when i use a certain apps and find it annoying. sometimes, force close on a apps that i am using.. not to mention that the responsiveness of the touch screen seems bit lag compare to the previous ios 8.0

The problem was there since I updated to iOS8 and its still there when I updated it to 8.1 and the issue persists on both my iPad Air and iPad Mini.

dont dream about it ... seriously , no tablet in the market that can replace iPad , at least in this 5yrs...Apple never need to drop their product price , juz to beg u to buy ? not same like other android tablet , where they fight for lowest price ... it seem stupid imo...

Haha I dunno why but every time I decided to give Android a go, I am plagued by its lagginess be it tablet or phone. So end up I stick with Apple for its butter smooth performance.

I don't play much game as only Clash of Clans, halfway it will reboot my iPad by getting the Apple logo average twice per day

As for the touch responsiveness yet to come across, except for the unpredictable reboot else are just fine charm.

Try updating to 8.1.

I feel that the performance is much better than in iOS 8.1, particularly when opening and closing the apps, the transition is much smoother.

So far I did not encounter any issues, works just fine.

Yes, i have the same problem too.. ipad just couldn't recognized which side are you on, i mean horizontal and vertical, and some times it works when you go back to home screen, then turn your screen horizontal or vertical, for a couple of times... if this is not working i will go for a restart... apple are getting more stupid rather than smart huh?

I did experience force close when using youtube.. get it even on Chrome too, but very rare.
You can always turn off the auto update.

How bout 8.1.2 on iPad 2?is the any issues?

updated iPad Air to iOS 8.2 and it has been a nightmare. Safari shows smaller fonts, keyboard is causing so much problems for those used to iOS 7+. Keyboard takes up too much space on the screen.

Updated iPad 3 to iOS 8.1+ and it has been laggy like my iPad Air with iOS 8.2.
