I basically need a new ipod after dropping and cracking my 5th gen a couple of months ago. The main problem however isn't so much the crack as it is the fact that it only has a 6gb capacity.

Now while the classic provides a whopping 160gb memory, I'm worried about the fact that its basically the same model that was released in 2009. I basically don't care much for apps but it bugs me that its an old model and I'm worried about any hardware problems that might not be solveable due to it being an old model. Are there any classic users who can reassure me on this? Does it not matter that its an old model? Are there any problems?

As for the touch, I don't mind spending extra, I'm just worried that I won't get my monies worth since it doesn't even give me half of what the classic can store.

Any advice?

I always go back to 5th gen iPod
If you want okay sound quality

Current (just discon) iPod classic is no where near the quality

You can easy hunt down part for iPod 5th gen, 30GB, 80GB, 120GB

If you are semi audiphine, definitely go for 5th gen

Nothing can beat the 160gb storage of the ipod classic, although using a spinning HDD, the speed is sufficient enough to not hinder daily music listening. Also the battery is quite a beast.

But the touch has benefits like you can play games on it, surf the net and other phone like capabilities.

It all depends on the quantity of your music library, if its more then 64gb, get the classic.

My 6th gen is also my portable music library, rockboxed it, drag and drop feature is compulsory.

easy solution would be ,
classic = music library
touch = multimedia platform

as for classic sometime its tend to hang a bit i don't exactly know the problem , but a quick force shut down would do the job.

and for touch everything is good except the fact that its have a much smaller capacity.
how much is your music library amount anyway ?
