Yesterday tukar brake pad, after bukak the mechanic buat muka serius kata ini itu ini itu kena tukar. Which some of it is still new doh.gif . Nasib i got google before go to kedai. Dulu penah kena tipu chamber skru sampai RM80 per piece.  vmad.gif  vmad.gif

Any k/ got bad experience with kedai tayar?

You should go to trusted shop that you are familiar with. Most who you don't know will charge ridiculous price and cut throat by asking you to change this that / say this that broken too. Sometimes you end up HAVING to pay because they have taken out the car to pieces and that by not changing will render the car useless / not usable.

But I see that you may not known any trusted workshop so far.

Why don't you try carama? There's this ad at paultan that carama doesn't overcharge so what they quote initially is what you ended up paying at the end.

www.carama.com/
Malaysia car care portal to find the best mechanic and repair shop for your car, get savings on your car repair, maintain your car service history log and receive ...

I didn't try yet because I know some trusted workshops. Maybe you can try it out yourself?

last week my window cant wind up due some ball bearing got out of rail, maklumlah, old car, hence normal tear n wear.
my objective is to put back the ball back into the rail only. the boss of lim tayar came and examine, plug out another rail with a plastic proytective bearing covering it. and he claims the plastic is wore off due to aged. for god sake i am standing THERE WATCHING, he assume i mislooked or something that he just plug out somehting from my car. Howverr it is true as per i c memang already gone case but i can still choose to fix back the original bearing that is out of rail and my window will b up again without needing to fork out 600++ just to replace an old regulator/switch/rail and bearing as per mentioned everything looks intact to me except for the 5 sen size plactic covering the smaller bearing which is totally out of the question.

what i did was i don bother as i only as them to put back the loss bearing back to  the window rail and there goes 35 for opening and assmebling bacxk the ball into rail.

abt changing the whole regulator and window switch is really rediculous. and it happened in lim tayar latest branch in bangsar.

moral of the story, do stand beside the mechanic and understand from them instead of the boss that claims need to change the whole mechanism just for simple wire issue which is later cos a bomb.

Now you know how to open the door, can just do it yourself in future.

Cars are just like PCs. If (some) pc technician knows that you know shit about computers when you hand it over to them for repairs, they'll say that the motherboard need replacement while it's just the CMOS battery that needs changed. Because you know nothing about computers, you fork out RM500 to replace the mobo rather than spending RM5 for changing battery.

Learning about cars is good so we don't get cheated by mechs. For simple stuffs we can DIY, but of course complex require additional big boys tools that we don't have, so we need to send the car over. But still, at least we know something and can fight back.
