The Motorola branding at the back seems to kind of overshadow the Nexus wording (maybe because of its glossy/chrome finishing), the Motorola logo and the Nexus wording don't seem to blend in my opinion.

common application would be Junos Pulse, IBM Notes Traveler, MaaS360 MDM for Android ... all these app check phone for root access or not

if you have company using those as device management to monitor employee BYOD , then you will have error / warning prompt out.  usually is being use in company IT department. the current policy u download from junos is "default" and not being config customly.

My friend last time asked me not to buy and/or touch(mod) HTC phones, so me can consider noobie in HTC devices.
So HTC is one of regular oems I don't play with 

Verizon specific and That bottom bezel really ruins the otherwise almost perfect phone.
