my winfast 6600gt fan died the other day. change cooler need about 100 bux. didn't want to spend that kind of money on an old gfx card. so i took out the fan, cleaned the heatsink and applied new thermal compound and tied an 8cm fan to it. now full load usually about 55-60. once touch 65 before but thats about it

However one of the main drawback of this VF700 is the fan kinda occupy the PCI slot next to your AGP slot. Which makes that particular PCI slot unusable (well, in my case la, depends how far the distance between the PCI and AGP slot)TO MadMan,the HSI sink was separated from the main heatsink.Thats y it cook!!ANyway are you guys using the card in normal room or air conditioned room?WHy my temp so high??70-80C in normal room. Not to say the best, more like personal preference, plus it's quiet too. I don't know how much a VF700-AlCU cost, but i know the VF700-CU cost around RM135. This forumer called moderno is bulking the VF700-Cu, unfortunately it's out of stock. I thought if getting a FC-V7 Fatal1ty SOmeone offer me new VF700-AlCU LED for rm110......is this okay ah? if ur HSI heatsink is seperate then better....coz easier to use aftermarket heatsink.... i say go for the zalman PURE COPPER coolers...
if ur gonna buyy dont bother with the alu or the alcu...spend a bit more to get a better cooler... my current recommendation would be the zalman vf-700cu or the zalman fatality FC-V7. or if ur willing to spend a lil more... get the zalman vf900cu which elhh is bulking for about 170 i think (cant remember) one more thing to do is to improve air flow around ur GC area dude..... this will help cool down the GC better |

well... for a 6600GT card... i dun recommend spend a wad of cash on the latest fatality.. i suggest u go get urself a 700CU or the fataility F7...of course fatality would be better la.. but rake out more money, in that case.
there's a bulk going on, not by mordeno, but by someone else... check that out.. he has stock btw. |

If plus a zalman...means my card(rm550)+zalman(rm135)=used 6800(rm685).hahaha.Nearly there.
I guess my temp is still okay....full load 70C to 80C+ but wanna fry liao. Better search for a good yet budget cooler. |

just get an unused heatsink and fit it into your 6600GT like what I did to mine...
I used amd64 stock heatsink to cool my 6600GT ![]() and the idle temp for my stock clock @ 550/1120 was 44dCelcius only ![]() Evogenix |

QUOTE(mxxuang @ Sep 3 2006, 09:57 PM) thats not pci slot, its pci-e where its useless for a DFI ultra-D user (Ultra-D cant run SLi unless mod the nForce4 Ultra's chipset) btw, the most important part is cost saving mar Evogenix This post has been edited by Evogenix: Sep 3 2006, 10:16 PM |

I think even a VF700-AlCu would be suitable for an overclock 6600GT.
My Zalman can give me an idle temperature of 48degrees idle at overclocked frequencies of 580/1160 |
