I think there are errors in your statement above;

You only start buying Gold when DXY is weakening and sell when DXY is strengthening.

Usually DXY is used instead of USD to gauge the strength of USD with comparison to a basket of currencies.
*
It's matter of perspective, Unker's here bought gold 2008, 2009, 2020...so now when DXY weakening, gold price is expected to go up further (although in most other currencies is already UP, UP)..so when time comes...Unker's sell, while Newbies buy.

Make sense?

Just to add on Bro.

Best to accumulate your money n buy bigger pieces, to earn more metal....minimize premium. Compare btw banks n private companies the (buy vs sell)...

1x100gram=$29K vs 10x10gram=$31K

Assuming funds cukup, is it better to buy 5 pieces of 100g gold bars or 1 piece of 500 gram bar ? For long term (10 years above) storage and wealth preservation.
Looking at PAMP Suisse gold bars.

Unker agrees with Bro Xander...

Eventually, your own reasons n purposes..
1. Anak berapa? Fair n action mah during tea serving ceremony. Chinese liddat one.
2. 5 pcs can DCA? As gold quite high now.
3. Depends % of your net worth, dontbover induldge in this useless metal?
4. Other considrations?

well, that's true - for everything, isn't it?

your stocks, deposits, even cash in the bank or EPF aren't yours until u withdraw and spend it!
anyway, nicely done for the taikors who have been accumulating physical, paper or ETF gold.

and some hv very correctly said so - gold isn't a fast trading commodity; it is to keep for years, if not decades.

the way the jittery global dynamics are going, better things should be coming for the metal.

Have any of you bought gold from bullionstar singapore before ?
*
Good morning, just Unker perspective.

Bullionstar will provide sliver (slight) cost advantage against silver bullion if you holding sgd$. Today, DBS transfer is 3.37.

Unker has checked today, bullionstar RM $100+ cheaper, but you must oso pay mail, etc.

So unless, you on paid biz trip to Sgp, go to shop browse thru display, chit chat, buy. Otherwise, buy in most convenient n reliable Malaysia location....UOB?

As you have mentioned, buy at least 100g n keep long term, so the difference of rm100-200 is not major consideration.....more important is the accessibility to sell, transparent rates, long term survivality of the shop.

Major concern is rm depreciation....unless PMX tangkap all the sakau family (top 5 oso enuf) n confiscate their overseas wealth.

If Unker don't eat, Unker calculate I will have additional $2.1Mil additional cashflow at current age.

Trying to save rm$100 in buy price, but consider store product at bullionstar.

Do you have any good safe/vault storage companies here in Msia which you recommend, which you find fees competitive? Not those located in malls/office buildings/banks.
*
Malaysia I looked up G7 lockers, not cheap.

Singapore I looked up couple high end ones, promoted by influencers.

Unless, got couple millions $ easy money, just keep at home.

Purpose of holding physical is to bypass the institutions during emergency. But everyone has own opinion.

Unker has a good friend, sadly passed away. Crazy collector from Malaysia nickel coins, British notes, gold, unused public phone credit cards. God bless his soul. He has a big safe around 4ft high in his house. Dunno which brand.

Back then, he bought 2 pcs X1 kg pamp at ard rm148K each. Sprayed them black n left on tv stand as paper weight. Try beating that. I miss him.

QUOTE(Sitting Duck @ Jun 1 2023, 04:07 PM)
I have done a few surveys and so far I have seen this company (https://msgold.com.my) has one of the best price for gold bar in Malaysia, but I have not bought any from this company. Anyone has experience with this company?

Other shops that I have bought gold coins/bars so far are:

https://www.silverbullion.com.my/
https://www.buysilvermalaysia.com/
https://www.litz.store/ (from shopee/Lazada)

Wah Chan, Poh Kong gold nugget price is ridiculously high, so I've never bought gold coin/bar from these retail shop.

Would you mind also share the places that you bought your gold coins/bars locally?
I don't get to travel out from Malaysia too often so no chance to survey oversea market/shops.

Thanks.

Edited: Oh ya, I also noticed some pawn shop sells gold as well, but mostly gold jewelries, not sure about gold bar/coins. Is pawn shop a good place to buy gold (999) as well?
*
Unker safely conclude you already know your way around buying gold (ability to search web, multiple supply sources, comparing with jewellery shops) but then why seeking confirmation?

If you hope to get cheap or distressed deals, then don't...do you have a way to verify actual gold content? Don't worry to pay the $100-300 more even if buy from reputable wah chan, etc. At least you know some brand guarantee.

Unker's great grandma, they are next level wealthy ones with maids, butlers, chauffers, (I must go visit monthly her house, all need to tripod her) when she passed on...the children discovered she kept a bag of diamonds from the Sri Lankan jeweller.....turns out to be fake.

So Unker's approach, if intend to keep longer term, gold like all other hard asset investments should appreciate per inflation %, never wrong to buy from the banks, jewellery shops, etc they should survive longer than other retailers n reputable....know what you buy!
