I bought some silver recently using SLV.

Banks usually no fees but study the spread

I prefer to buy gold etfs via brokerage. Thin spreads but got brokerage fees and management fees, which I consider minimal.

There a few types of "paper" gold, one can invest in:

The banks ones
Exchange traded funds
Futures contract

Best asset class in last 2 years..beat even nasdaq QQQ.

There are many legit platforms to buy gold.

But first u need to decide whether u want physical or are u ok with paper/digital.

Physical means u want to be able to touch the gold, keep.it in your house. The main advantage is of course the gold is with you amd not in anyone elses hands.

Or if you just want to profit from price upside but dont really need to have it physically. Its more convinient and there alre also many legit ways.

Gold and silver are precious metals. Also platinum and paladium.

Copper, aluminium are base metals. My go to instrument for these will be Invesco DBB etf which is 1/3 copper, 1/3 aluminium and 1/3 zinc. Atm I dont hold any tho.

But u never buy. 😔

Crazy stuff.. Gold is16+% YTD (in USD).

Im inclined towards ETF because of the flexibility it gives me to buy and sell small amounts with thin spreads. Im also a stock investor. So its good to have everything in one platform and I can switch around assets easily.

I own both the Bursa etf and GLD which is a US based etf and the biggest in the world. Why?.because I have a MYR and USD portfolio.

Bursa etf is in MYR, so save on forex costs. It has other advantages, like the gold is in Singapore and theoretically easier to redeem physical. GLD gold is in London and like impossible to redeem for normal people. Disadvantage of Bursa gold etf is higher management fees which in long run is not as good as GLD.

Asean is being bit the hardest

I googled

Highest 2011 was 1921

Lowest 2015 was 1086

Thats 43% drop.

There was another similar big drop in earlly 80s.

But twice in 45 years, I wont say "common".

The silver pullback hurts me a bit..ouch.

Nowadays only gold investors are happy 😂

Best time to buy Gold will be at peak US interest rate before Fed starts cutting. For last 10 years, that would be early 2019 and end of 2023.

Silver finally moving up nicely.

Hoping it can reach its 2011 peak 🙏
