Loving our starting lineup, exactly how we should approach the match vs city. Hoping for toure to have an off game in the middle.

The draw vs schalke was a good wake up call, and i have no doubt jose will use that to ensure all players remain focused and extremely determined.

P.s: Not entirely surprised by leicester's win,but the manner in which they achieved it certainly raised err..a few eyebrows. did play some wonderful stuff against us and i honestly see them staying up this season.

We look a bit nervous. Just need to maintain possession for awhile.

Hm..could and maybe should've won this. That last attack, why didn't we just go for it.

Not the best time to have one of our worst performances of the season but i guess a point at the home of the champions isn't so bad after all.

Fox sports was showing highlights at halftime from our brilliant win at the etihad last season, and i can't help but be amazed by the amount of chances we created and how dangerous we looked on the break against them, even hitting the post twice, etc.

Fast-forward to today, and we just paled in comparison. The difference was practically night and day. The post match stats showed we only had 4 shots and that's not good enough no matter who we're up against.

This seems a bit like a case of showing them too much respect, which is strange given how they're not exactly on top form atm. What a missed opportunity to open up a real gap between us and them and I can't understand why remy wasn't given a chance to trouble city's backline with his pace.Costa was struggling against mangala and kompany's strength,so what chance did drogba have?

Jose needs to set aside sentiment sometimes. Hope we don't have a hangover after this in the league.

but even he brought on Remy, I dont think Remy would have been able to go against Mangala and Kompany...

It was still worth a shot though, since we did utilise pace to carve through their defence for the goal. I lost count of how many times costa was manhandled by kompany (sometimes he looked like he was being fouled to be fair),so brute strength clearly wasn't working. More pace would've potentially done more damage me thinks.

Imo, city really strengthen their backline weaknesses.
What a solid backline they have now compare to last seasons.
loosing luiz-matic combo really make us soft in term of physical.
*
Thanks for pointing that out,i believe you're right, as just that little bit of physicality was missing from midfield which could've made a world of difference to us getting better control of the game. We weren't really overran in the second half, but we almost were prior to zabaleta being sent off.

Ramires and willian both looking really-really off colour didn't help our cause either. Can't disagree with jose's tactical changes today, except for that odd drogba sub. Looking at the big picture,it's a great point but feels a little like a missed chance after being one man up for an hour. Nevertheless,we're in a great position after taking on 2 big teams already.

Back to our goal partying ways in the next match please! :P

In a way, schalke must be given some degree of credit for successfully knocking us off our stride in midweek.I think the players were a bit shocked with how much of a fight they gave us and unfortunately we had a bit of a hangover vs city. Not like city were any slouches themselves though, they almost left us empty handed with their quick passing and movement.

Great runout for the fringe players,it seems we created numerous chances which should've been put away, and the game became nervy when bolton equalised.

Was hoping for christensen and baker to get some minutes, unfortunately that slender one goal lead didn't really allow jose to experiment with the younger players.

Anyone notice how zouma has already bulked up?the boy looks huge sweat.gif nice poacher's finish in the box too,his goals so far (including pre-season) remind me of a certain riccy carvalho icon_idea.gif

Quite bring first half. Lack creativity IMO. Hazard need to run more.

I don't think he's really got going this season, looks like he takes the safe option 99% of the time, when we know he has bags of ability to unlock even the tightest of defences.

We need to move the ball much, much quicker too.villa's bus looks too secure after we got the opener.
