QUOTE(leetan33 @ Nov 6 2014, 12:04 PM) http://www.astro.com.my/latestinfo/faq.aspx Astro said there are 11 paid tv licensees in Malaysia. In the above page (this FAQ page is different from the one you saw on Latest Info's FAQ), Astro compared their prices with other pay TV services providers in Southeast Asia and answered some of the critical questions (monopoly and price revision). ![]() ![]() ![]() I only know Astro, Hypptv, ABN, DETV. So where are the other 7? Sleeping? |

QUOTE(CTU @ Feb 28 2015, 01:08 AM) While I do agree that Astro should not get monopoly power of all the BPL games, we must consider what is happening in the UK now. I think the situation in Indonesia is quite the same? For almost two decades, SKY had complete control of the rights to the games. When the regulators stepped in to stop the monopoly, Sky had to share the rights. While it broke their stranglehold on the games, it also burdened the fans who now have to pay 2 separate pay-tv operators to access more games. Sky have more matches but BT also has their fair share. You dont get all the matches through one pay-tvt though. this is why i hope malaysians bpl fans should becareful what they wish for. Yes we hate astro coz they keep hiking d sports package due to rising content fees. Yet i dont want to pay them and tm for access to games if they share the rights. imagine u need tm for BPL but astro has champions league, la liga, bundesliga plus formula one, rugby, nba, wwe etc. Malaysians simply arent ready for that. next season, sky has lost the rights for champions league to BT so fans in the UK need Sky for the majority and biggest games for BPL and also pay BT to watch d champions league The best thing is for Astro n TM to show whatever each other has but offer better prices, packages, internet connections n etc. btw, from next season, the German Bundesliga will move to the Fox Sports Network from their current Astro Supersport home. So one less league Supersport aRe paying for. Maybe to pay a bit more for BPL? |

QUOTE(CTU @ Jan 24 2016, 02:25 PM) I found this article from late last year regarding the BPL rights from next season onwards. I wonder when the results will be known. Whether Astro win it again or beIN can outbid them. AFAIK last BPL bid, TM fight until last breath to win the rights before lose to Astro. http://www.thestar.com.my/business/busines...oadcast-rights/ Astro should reduce its subscription fees if they lose next BPL bid. |
