Do you guys realize that any new channel launches by Astro nowadays are charged minimum RM5.30 (incl. GST) per channel per month, or even up to RM53 for one channel/package if you did not subscribe to any particular package to get the cheaper package price available? Basically the price are not under the "affordable" range, instead it is like the customers are paying more for a "premium stuff" especially the ridiculous RM53/month for one channel/package, which Astro never offer such thing several years ago. I suspect Astro is mainly using this method to gain advantage and earn more profit from customers that subscribe new channels lineup at their discretion. Do you think it is somehow true to say that Astro do this so that other existing Astro customers will not experience any price hikes EVERY YEAR just like few years ago, so that Astro can somehow able to "cover up the content cost"?
Example: Korean Pack, Star Chinese Channel, Golf Channel, Astro Cricket, Setanta Sports, WWE Network, and the new TVB Jade pack.
In general, Astro will always find ways to make customers pay more, and more, and more for TV content. To be honest in my opinion, Astro don't actually showing loyalty and appreciation to almost any existing customers (including the ones that subscribed Super Pack/Super Pack Plus). If you really go and evaluate all Astro packages and do some math calculation, you will know what I am trying to say. Like this TVB Jade Pack, Astro still expects customers to pay extra RM15.90/month despite they already paying more than RM164.30/month (RM137.80/month for Astro IPTV) for Super Pack 3 or Super Pack Plus 3/4. Do you personally think that RM164.30/month or RM137.80/month for Astro IPTV is a small amount? Yet Astro still expects customers to pay more for additional content? Also, if you do not subscribe to Dynasty or Super Pack 3 or Super Pack Plus 3 or 4, subscribing to TVB Jade Pack is RM53/month! You call this fair pricing?
Many customers were asking why is Astro doing this, yet Astro explains to them how much they care about you, and such premium offer are only available to customers at their discretion. This is obviously wanting customers to pay even more despite they are already paying more. This is obviously prove that Astro prioritize over your money than your loyalty or appreciation towards their service. But what to do? Astro is playing well in monopolize Malaysian pay TV market.
Asstro knew most users doesn't have alternative to switch to, hence the cockiness...
I wouldn't call HyppTV a serious contender...
