I get the feeling that we might be saying goodbye to Astro's inhouse programmes for the matchday coverage of the BPL. That would be great if beIN sports gets the rights. It might still be on Astro. Don't see anyone else can take it off them. Not even TM.

Malfunction power brick supplied too much watts?

Or the decoder itself burning out due to overheating?  shocking.gif

Couldnt be overheating since i just turned the power on for less than 10minutes.

Technician just came to replace. Didnt even bother checking. Took my word about d black smoke. He said its a common problem now. Its d worst thing that could happen to a decoder. Others being it cant start up, keep rebooting, or hang. Problem with the hard disk he said. I thought it could be connected to my old CRT tv since it sometimes has a hard time to turn on. He said shouldnt be the problem as it would have affected my tv too.

Best thing is, they replaced my non-wifi Pvr decoder with the wifi version.

Sifus,

Anyone has inside info on the new EPL broadcast rights? The one Astro has right now will end in May when the season finishes. But usually they announce well in advance but havent done so so far. No news of the rights from next season.

I found this article from late last year regarding the BPL rights from next season onwards. I wonder when the results will be known. Whether Astro win it again or beIN can outbid them.

Here is the article i found regarding tge EPL rights won by Astro last week. Astro must have paid some serious cash to beat beIN sports who have invaded the SEA market.

It says Astro to show all 380 matches on Tv. I smell their own version of a Premier League channel coming or atleast matches shown via the red button like in the US

Just read about the sports pack increase. Angry but not surprised. Not only Astro is increasing the price, in the UK, SkySports subscription price is also set to increase. All of this is because........EPL..

Anyways, anyone knoe which Bein feed they will likely use? would like to see the league and other sports that they are going to show..

another thing is, Astro are supposed to show all 380 matches of EPL live from this coming season on TV..previously, some matches were on delayed but now the new deal they signed in February states they will show all 380 matches Live on TV and on AOTG. Does anyone of you think they will use temporary channels on matchday when they have more than 2 or 3 matches played at the same time? especially on Saturdays?

btw, i was using the red button function on Astro Oasis (CH106) to view prayer times. Suddenly there was an announcement saying the prayer time service will be stopped on 30 June 2016. They ask to download their app to view it. Even that also want to stop ke? something useful that people can use, they want to stop yet they have all those useless Astro First channels non-stop. ppuuiiihh

Portfolio rights of beIN Sports:
Football: Serie A, Bundesliga, Championship, Capital One Cup, Scottish Professional Football League, Europa League, FA Community Shield, Copa Libertadores & Copa Sudamericana.
Rugby: RBS Six Nations, European Champions Cup and Challenge Cup, International test matches.

Not quite sure which of those cups, leagues and championships will be made available in Malaysia.

Here in Malaysia:

Bundesliga : Fox Sports
Europa League: Astro Supersport
FA Community Shield: Astro Supersport

The rest if the bolded ones were not on Astro last season. If all these are on beIN, then I'll be happy enough with the channel. The Rugny were all on Astro Supersort or Setanata Sports last season

beIN SPORTS in Singapore:

beIN SPORTS HD comes to StarHub TV
Singapore, 19 April 2016 – StarHub TV customers can look forward to even more world class football with the launch of beIN SPORTS HD on 20 April 2016. Featuring ‘live’ coverage of La Liga, Ligue 1, Coupe de la Ligue and Trophée des Champions matches in high definition, the channel will be available on StarHub TV Channel 213 and StarHub Go.

“We are delighted that our customers will be able to savour the best of Spanish and French football on beIN SPORTS HD. With so much football to catch, customers will be happy to hear that they can also watch the channel on their mobile devices anytime, anywhere,” said Ms Lee Soo Hui, Head of Media Business Unit, StarHub.

Yousef Al-Obaidly, Deputy CEO of beIN Media Group, said, “The new Singapore beIN SPORTS channel is a key component of our Asia Pacific presence and we are pleased to extend our relationship with StarHub to bring this high quality channel in HD to football fans in Singapore.”

The first division of Spanish professional football, La Liga is one of the most popular leagues in the world. Featuring household names such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Gareth Bale, La Liga clubs have won the most UEFA Champions League tournaments (15). La Liga players have won the highest number of FIFA World Player of the Year awards (11) and Ballon d'Or awards (18).

Ligue 1 is the top division of French professional football. The current champions are Paris Saint-Germain, whose roster includes world class players like Zlatan Ibrahimović, Thiago Silva, David Luiz, Edinson Cavani and Marco Verratti. The league also includes storied clubs such as the first and only French club to win the UEFA Champions League, Olympique de Marseille and ten-time league champions AS Saint-Étienne.

The Coupe de la Ligue (French League Cup) is a knockout cup competition. Established in 1994, the tournament runs from August to April and is open to professional clubs in the top three football divisions of French football. The Trophée des Champions (Champions' Trophy) is the annual curtain-raiser contested between the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France holders.

To give sports fans a taste of the channel, a free preview will be available for all StarHub TV customers with HD set-top boxes from launch to 3 May 2016, 12 noon.

beIN SPORTS HD will be available on the Sports Group at a monthly subscription fee of $21.40 (including GST) and the Football Pack at a monthly subscription fee of $14.90 (including GST). Existing Sports Group and Football Pack customers will be able to watch the channel at no additional charge. An HD set-top box is required to access the channel. Non-StarHub TV customers can also watch the channel via the Go Sports Pack on StarHub Go.

Hmm..

La Liga, French Ligue 1, Serie A, Capital One Cup, English Championship were all 'dropped' from Astro last season for no apparent reason. Only La Liga was re-added later in the season. At that time, I said that Astro did it because they were preparing a massive bid to retain the EPL rights. They retained it in February this year. So my guess is that instead of buying the rights to the 'dropped' leagues individually to show on their own Astro Supersport channels, they decided to get beIN on the platform and have all the leagues and cup that they dropped in there.

However, see how clever Astro are. All those league will usually play at the same time. There is no way they can show all those league and cup matches at the same time on a single channel. So next season, when there are matches that are not shown, for example a La Liga game being shown instead of Serie A for example, all the people start harassing and abusing Astro on FB, their easy way out reply will be 'Unfortunately, beIN Sports has the rights to the matches. Their scheduling and choice of matches is beyond the control of Astro'. So not only were they able to save money not buying the rights to those leagues anymore, they also get to use that as an excuse to raise the price of sports pack. and also use their Astro Supersport channels exclusively for EPL.

If they had added fox sports 2 and 3 in hd, together with arena and supersport hd 4 and beIN, it would have been ok up until people realise beIN alond can't cater to all the leagues and cup astro don't have.

Rite now, it looks like an expensive hike.

Olympic games on ch760 and ch 780 for HD..12 channels in total.

I said it before, they really need to fix ane realign their sports channel numbers again. Its all over the place. Like crazily. Suddenly u have radio channels from ch852.

Like wtf? Get it sorted. Sports price go up but cant even arrange channel numbers nicely

I'm thinking of doing the same as u. Rite now im on unifi 10mbps rm199. Haven't upgraded to 30mbps yet.

My question is, is Maxis 10mbps as good, stable and reliable as unifi 10mbps. I dunno who to ask but since u seem to have surveyed it, is it good enuf?

I said it earlier. They have ran out of ch800+ to put sports. Dont forget ch852 onwards are radio channels already. So left with 800 onwards, which already is congested.

Is it so hard for them to renumber their sports channels again?
