I wanna cook an easy pie so I looked around a few major hypermarkets and all I find is popiah pastry. So before i buy the wrong thing,is popiah pastry the same as puff pastry?

No they are different. Puff pastry has fat between layers, resulting in the puffiness or flakiness when baked. You'll want that for pies, NOT popiah skins.

Puff pastry is not hard to make...U can google for recipes. Remember to not let the butter/whatever shortening you use in the dough to melt....chill the dough in fridge between folding and rolling sessions. The more layers , the puffier yr pastry.

malaysian supermarkets rarely sells ready made pastry dough. so, have to make one. Jew need to combine oil dough and water dough together and kasi lipat lipat.
