M series got grill at the sides. Its the easiest way to tell. Skirting, 2 exhaust at the back. Side mirror of M series rounded and sharper.

yeah i still cannot differentiate 3 series and 5 series.
i know 5 is bigger but from far the design is almost the same

sometimes we can identify it is a M car if they have double the quantity of normal car exhaust pipe
like 5 series with 2 pipes.. M5 got 4 pipes..

Doubt it is going to be anything close to the M3 and M4. Because it looks as though it will be an uptuned N55HP engine. Probably around 380 HP and 100kg lighter the regular 2 series (if they use the liberal amount of CFP they used in the other Ms)

overall dimension, 4 series gran coupe is wider, longer & lower than 3 series.

The reason why that small coupe used 1-M instead of M1 is M1 is actually a BMW super car that was made in the 80s.

easiest way,

look at the size of disc brake for the M sport version.

n for the 3/5 series, front can tell which model it is easily but for the back look at the tail light lining, 2 line means 3 series n 3 line means 5 series.
