Hi to all the guru here , currently looking for a set of headphone for 50%gaming and 50% music. Music type more to pop and classical which prefer wide soundstage which benefit fps game as well. Currently eyeing on the HD600 , HD650 or Dt880 pro 250ohm or Dt 990pro 250ohm. Kindly please guide me cause this is the first time i wish to invest a good headphone which can last me for years and enjoy to maxx.
*
I personally will recommend Beyerdynamic DT880, it has version that require less good amp to fully drive it to full potential, it is neutral for cross genre and great amount of detail and mid high to spot incoming for FPS gaming as well

Budget - rm1000
Rig      - iPod, Sony Z3 phone, laptop, no amps or whatsoever
File format - MP3
Genre  - Rock, acoustic, r&b, classical, a little hip hop
Headphone - Closed back
Other requirements - Comfortable, portability is a bonus but not definite

Currently looking at Sony MDR 1RMK2, ATH M50X, AKG k612 (i heard it needs amp?), DT 770 32ohms

Thank you
*
If you looking at all rounder, M50x, DT770pro is pretty well on them, however the major distinct between M50x and 770pro, is the sound stage effect, M50x provides much aggressive and on your face presentation, while 770pro has strong sound stage and separation.

Budget : 1.2k
Rig : phone and laptop
File format : Apple lossless
Genre: blue , punk, rock, edm, classical, everything that catches my attention
Headphone : around ear

Can't decide between m50x , Bose sound true or sennheiser momentum
Help?
*
M50x would be my choice, or you can go for AKG K550 series, they are pretty good too.

- Genre of music you listen to (slow/classical music)
- Headphone/ earphone type (can be closed or open, but prefer closed)
- budget (around RM400)

i'm totally new for headphone, btw i've found beyerdynamic dtx910 at only RM179 after discount, anybody tested that product?

I have a pair, just buy it for fun, seriously for RM179 with open design headphone, the sound really comparable with some famous headphone such as Sennheiser HD518, and you can look for HD518 price in the market.

Jabra move is pretty good, currently most of the places have big promotion for this model.

Hi guys
I've been always speaker fan.. now want to try a headphone. I did some little research and eyeing for Audio-Technica ATH- M20x (which is suitable with my budget). What do guys think?
*
If you prefer flat, uncoloured, thin bass and less exciting sound quality, you can go for M20x, it was initially designed for monitoring.
For pure fun music enjoyment, i will recommend stay away from this model. No offend to M20x user, it is for detail lover.

Looking for a decent sounding pair of portable headphones for travelling. Would like something comfortable (and maybe with Bluetooth if possible?).
Budget RM200-300++

- Your rig : Mobile phones/Tablets
- What type of usage : Mostly streaming music and the occasional movies/youtube...
- File format used in your source : Streaming
- Genre of music you listen to : Mostly rock but anything goes
- Headphone/ earphone type : Closed On Ear

For Bluetooth you can go for Sony ZX330BT, without bluetooth Senhheiser PX100, Beyerdynamic DTX350m, JBl has few models not bad as well

Hi there,

I am not an experienced audiophile, but I do appreciate good sound. I'm not into heavy thumping music, more to R&B, soft rock and jazz. Occasionally, I would like to watch movies with lots of actions and stuff.

I am torn between getting the Sony MDR-1A and Audio-Technica ATH-M50x. Both are at class of their own. Though the M50x is cheaper, it seems that 1A is more comfortable on the ears based on the reviews. Think Will Smith.

Can anyone shed some light into which one is a better buy? I don't want to get a headphone which I will regret later and spend extra to get another one. Might as well bite the bullet and get one which will last for years to come.

Thank you.
*
if u looking for an all rounder headphone not emphasize on base, i do recommend go for Sony MDR-1A, M50 to me is more aggressive, bassy and on your face, in the mean time you can consider Beyerdynamic Custom One pro or Sennheiser HD558

For sennheiser In Ear, they are always famous in their IE series, you can have some research on them.

Guys, i need some recommendation here.

Few months back i bought a JVC FX1200 and i really like it, due to rush hour and my carelessness i actually broke 1 side. Send back to JVC center and they told me is beyond repair, being detachable cable in ear they dont actually sell 1 side only.

I was thinking if anyone of you knew any shop that can do better job than JVC centre or i should buy another FX1200. OR perhaps you guys can recommend me any other options.
Budget About RM1500+-

Listen to various genre but EDM mostly.
*
Aw that is a bad news, in fact FX1200 for the price range, hardly you can find exact similar sound signature, maybe you can try out Sennheiser IE series or ATH IM Series, btw where do you purchase the earphone from? If i'm not wrong, it should be able to buy just 1 side.

Hi All experts/sifus

Need your advise on Bluetooth In-Earphones

- Your rig - Smartphone & Laptop
- What type of usage: Movie, movie, and movie!
- File format used in your source: regardless of format it is at least DTS and most truehd
- Headphone/ earphone: Only In ear
- Other requirements: Prefer only with simple cable. Not over head or at the back of neck types. Budget  around RM 300

I've been using the AudioBeats In-earphones for the past 2 years and enjoy its bass and crisp sounds. So that will be my benchmark. But I want to be more mobile without attaching into 3.5mm jack, that is why looking for a new earphones.

Thanks All!!!

Hello there, thanks for replying and I bought my jvc from Jaben. Well I've been quoted by other company apparently handling the headphone division for jvc. So I assumed jvc Malaysia doesn't handle them anymore. So jvc told me they can't do anything for me and this company quoted me RM900 for 1 side only.

Anyway went back to Jaben and tested fitear,  shure 535, and RHA T20. At the end I bought another pair for fx1200. Others just doesn't wow me at all.

Now I will be extra careful with this second pair and hope it last long enough to justify for what I spent  cry.gif

Haha yea, that is the exact problem i'm facing, i couldn't find any alternative, similar signature like FX1200, the dynamic range is pretty amazing.

- File format used in your source - mp3, flac
- Genre of music you listen to - mixed, no particular preference
- Headphone/ earphone type - in ears
- Other requirements - having volume control would be a bonus, prefer a comfortable/lightweight design, with decent noise isolation.

previously was using MDR-EX650AP(no volume control though), very satisfied with the fit and comfort, as well as the noise isolation. am no audiophile but it sounds good, although the bass isnt as great. would like to find something similar or even better

You can look for Audio Technica IM50, Sennheiser CX3.00 and Beyerdynamic MMX102

You can look for JBL reflect BT, it has similar 8 hours battery life like jaybird, however the design, build and SQ i do prefer the Jaybird over JBL, however JBL is much cheaper thou.

What about wireless over ear headphone. Around my budget what option do you suggest.

Thanks for the recommendations.
*
Sound wise X2 is more clearer and detail, but i wouldn't say it is RM250 improvement, as bluetooth product the diminishing return of quality is different compare with wire.

QUOTE(Michaelbyz23 @ Jul 18 2016, 10:27 PM)

*
Yes i have one unit, so far it is the best sounding Bluetooth sport IEM for me, i have tried JBL, Sony, ATH, Soul by ludacris, plantronic.

They are balance, not too much bass, clear, but please bear in mind, they are not RM700+ sound quality, you need to add in the bluetooth and battery technology.

QUOTE(NotTheOne @ Jul 19 2016, 04:23 AM)
Hi Guys I need all of your help here

I have a very noob question:
(1) I am looking at a bluetooth IEM but also want to connect a 3.5mm, for watching movie on a plane, for example (I travel a lot) - are there bluetooth IEM that can be wired?
OR
(2) Should I get a wired IEM and convet it to BT using a simple BT receiver, etc? Is this possible? If yes any suggestion?

Now, if (2) is not possible, I will settle for a BT IEM that is under RM300 and has wide & clear soundstage with excellent bass.
<FYI, I have been using dr. dre urbeats for the past two years and it has served me well. I enjoy the clarity of vocals and at the same time balanced bass with what seems a very very wide soundstage (to my ears)>

Does anyone use the QY7? Please suggest specific models for me to audition.

Thank you all!!
*
I don't think there is any bluetooth IEM that you can do that, however you can

(1) Buy a wire earphone (Detachable type), then buy a bluetooth cable that can conned to standard MMCX type, but it won't be cheap, Lear audio has that.
(2) Buy a wire earphone, then buy the bluetooth dongle then can plug in 3.5mm jack
(3) Buy a bluetooth headphone that can do both bluetooth headphone and 3.5mm jack

I've tested my friend XB950BT EXTRA BASS  and it sound worse then my Xiaomi Piston Hybrid. Do they sound the same since their prices aren't that different. I really like Sony 1ABT Bluetooth though when trying it at Sony Store. But I can't afford to shell out that much money. For me 600-700 is big budget hence I want extra function like wireless to make it worthwhile.

I'm not that sensitive though because when I try Sony XBA - H3 and I can't really tell the difference between it & Xiaomi Piston.
Where you get it from? Saw starpicker sold it for RM699 plus local warranty since they are authorized distributor.

Do update me your review when you get your.
*
Yes, the 1Abt is really good, nice tonal balance and relaxing quality. In the mean time you can try AKG Y50BT, JBL Synchros E50

Yup I did make sure I off the extra bass mode off. Gave it a couple more try and it's still don't like it. The shop don't have all model to test also.Sony 1ABT is great but not sure it worth it since I'm not that audiophile type. Don't even have a DAC and only listen from phone and tablet.

Maybe my old ear can't detect the difference on the XBA hence sceptical to invest on much more expensive model.
Nice collection you have there. In therms of comfort which one better off your collection. Which is much more low profile also.I won't be using mine for exercise also.
Looks like 1abt is nice from your guys comment but at that price there would be other option also right which is cheaper or sound much nicer.
*
Comfort wise, Sony, ATH and Soul by ludacris are big no no, they are huge and painful to wear, X2 and JBL are pretty good or you can wait for latest Freedom from Jaybird, i believe the comfort is pretty amazing due to the size.

Both are fine for all the purposes you mentioned, if you prefer more aggressive and tilt toward bass headphone, M50x is your choice, MDR-1a has more balance and soothing sound signature.

In the mean time you can consider Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro, the sound slider can help a lot for all rounder headphone and you have the chance to add in microphone cable for gaming purpose.

I am thinking a few such as Grado SR125E or perhaps a ATH MSR7 or ATH M50X?

What sound quality you would like to experience more? Similar to custom one pro? Personally i wouldn't recommend grado due to open design sound leakage issue in open area.

- File format used in your source - FLAC, MP3
- Genre of music you listen to - Metal, Rock
- Headphone/ earphone type - Over ear headphones, IEM
- Other requirements as below:

Must have: wireless(BT), Works on wire when battery died, Priority is good mic for calls(boom mic is better), Comfortable for long hours usage. Average Bass level is ok, I dont prefer too much bass.

Optional(would be nice to have): Noise cancellation,

Budget: Preferable :if it's possible, less than RM500

Been looking into: Most gaming headphones with boom mic , but most of them are wireless, no BT connection. Logitech H800 has been the only obvious choice, but if you guys came across any other headphones that can produce good call quality, with or without the boom mic, feel free to suggest.

Sony XB950BT is pretty great fit on your requirement, however it doesnt come with boom microphone though.

Rig: iPod nano, Nexus 6p, PC
Music: Celine Dion type of songs, jazz, classical
File format: mp3
Type: over the ear headphones, not too much sound leak
Emphasis: high emphasis of sound quality for the above genre, willing to sacrifice other criterias if sound quality is good

ATH MSR7 or Sony MDR1 are pretty good perform in the stage, if you like classical, jazz type of music, i will suggest go for open headphone, the staging effect is a must in my opinion, go for Beyerdynamic DT880/990 or Sennheiser HD5 series if you consider on Open.
