hello people. im beginner here, just want to ask for some opinion and recommendation for some decent low budget iem.

i know nothing about audio, but i do own audio technica ath m50 and i love the sound production, but since it is quite big, i need to buy one iem for my outdoor use.
currently looking for 3 models, audio technica im70, shure se215, and yamaha eph100. for your information id never use negative form factor iem before.

i looking for iem that has sound close to that of m50.
my comment for each of the models above:

im70 - some said it has the m50's sound signature, good build quality. the only issue for me maybe it is quite big and i dont know much about the sound isolation

shure se215 - superb comfort(reviews said), superb sound isolation but the sound production is not that good i think based on my research

eph100 - reviews said it has good sound production, very small with normal form factor so i just wear it like those cheap in ear earphone. also dont know much about its comfort and sound isolation.

- File format used in my source (mainly mp3, but some Flac and alac)
- Genre of music you listen to (i listen to all kind of music.hehe)

Unfortunately im not living in kl or nearby. Thanks though for your reply. May i ask you about the comfort of wearing it? I like to listen to music while lying on the bed. Does it make you feel uncomfortable let say when you listen it and close your ear with pillow? I know the shure wouldnt encounter such problem based on my reading. Again, thanks for your opinion.

Hi, guys. Just started dipping my feet in the water. I did quite a bit of research and just figured I'd ask here, too. (Heard the community is great!)

What type of usage: Music, Gaming, Music (In that order)
File format used in your source: FLAC (24-bit or lower), MP3
Genre of music you listen to: Metal, Rock, Ambient, Post-Rock, Chillstep Mixes, some dubsteps with vocals. (e.g. Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park, Asking Alexandria, Moby, One OK Rock,  etc.)
Headphone/ earphone type: Open Back Over-Ear Headphone without microphone (if there's any that comes with)
Budget: RM500 - RM1000 (or 1.1k at most) but trying to squeeze the quality-price ratio.

Currently, I own a Sennheiser G4ME ZERO and looking to sell it since I don't game that much now. I also don't need the pull down mic from the headset since my brother just got a Blue Yeti USB microphone. I am sure there are other headphones out there currently that offers better sound quality, that's within my budget, for the set of priorities listed.

Was eyeing on the new Sennheiser Momentum (Not the old one) but not sure if it's a good choice for its price. Not even sure if it's an on-ear or over-ear headphone. Did a read on how magnificent both Beyer Dynamic DT 770 PRO and the Beyer Dynamic DT 990 PRO are! Whilst the Sennheiser HD 598 looks really gorgeous, I need to know if it's worth it and also for the Sennheiser HD 558. I know some of them are closed back but yea...

These are but a list to get me started, feel free to recommend something else.

I took another chance to try the DT990 again and I definitely love them. BUT despite being light and the most comfortable pair of cans I've tried, it comes down to portability and convenience. I go to work every day and only get to listen to the pair at home. Obviously I would not be able to bring those to work and blast away, lol.

After testings and weeks of research. I think I'd settle on a closed back cans for now. I love both open and closed for having their own characteristics and profile for reproducing and creating their own environment and to immerse their listeners. However, I find that closed back suit my daily routine for now. Maybe when I have a budget, I might just get the 990 for home-studio use. For now, I'm sticking to what I can do with them daily.

Was looking at the M40x and the M50x and would definitely consider them. The detachable cables are a plus in my case. However, I only got to try the M50x and the M70x. Been reading about the M40x being compared to the M50x and how the M40x can sound neutral but boring to some. And most reviews say that if you're not to critical about the difference between them, might as well get the M40x and a good amp. Some also say that the M50x has a 2-3dB higher bass or some sort and lower highs. Gonna have to try them myself and I'm gonna need recommendations on what amps is suitable for either. I'm always on a desktop and that's my source. Considering a Schiit Fulla but what do you guys think?

P/S: I also tried SonicSense's website just to get me started and narrow down my options when I did my research: http://www.sonicsense.com/resourcecenter/a...o?load=featured. They try to help you listen and mimic the headphone sounds as accurate as possible just to give you the idea on how the signature is like, I guess, nothing more you can do but to try out. But, best to get you started!

Yes, it definitely is V shaped. I didn't quite like how the M100 and HP200 are built in terms of the cups. I have huge ears and my ears touched the cups inside.

I checked around the web, and the price is Okay for me XD.

My only concern is that is this earphone consider heavy? (285g, stated in the official site). Because I had a steelseries siberia elite (worst spending decision EVER, I was young and naive), which weighs around 365g. (Not to mention bad sound and not durable, only a year and one side is mute)

My other earphone was AKG K44, which is only 190g and was extremely comfortable for long time wearing.

Also, is this brand durable? I am hoping to use it for at least 2 years (Preferably longer)

This is my first time buying headphones for gaming on xbox 360, watching movies and listening to mp3 music on my laptop or phone without amp. Which one should i pick? Audio Technica ath-a900 or beyerdynamic dt770 pro 80ohm. I want closed headphones as i am sharing room with roommates and to be use in sleeping position. Thank you! (^ 3^)
