Hey all. I have a serious inflammation since last Thursday. Till now my right cheek is swollen. I have a feeling that it's my partially out wisdom tooth is causing the problem now. And also the gum half covering it. I went to the dental and she said she couldn't do anything except giving me antibiotics and painkillers. She did however do x-ray though, and I could see that they are very straight. Is it necessary to pull them out? Cause that's what she suggested. I have needle phobias so I don't know what to do about this.

Hello,

From what you're describing seems like you have pericoronitis/pericoronal abscess. And if what you're saying is right that the teeth is straight, you might consider for operculectomy instead of removing it, but I can't say for sure until I have a look at the x-ray.

The doctor didn't provide me a copy unfortunately.

In my opinion, if you've had serious inflammation over at that area means an infection has already happened, the antibiotic will reduce the swelling.

In future it might get infected again if not well taken care, if it happens again its better to remove them.

How to take care? make sure you're brushing that part everyday, floss that region and try to gargle everytime after meal to make sure no food gets stuck there.

That's what i have been doing, but still kena. It might be just the position of the g\tooth directly on the gum above.

If thats the case, it would be better to remove the tooth before further damage happens which eventually affects the neighbouring tooth.

Gonna consult another dentist this weekend and see how.

Hello,

Most dental clinics do not provide a patient copy nowadays. You can always request to take a picture of the x-ray with your phone.

Do keep us updated on the progress.

Anyhow, you can always ask the previous dentist who took the x-ray to email the picture of the x-ray to you.

Got it already, thanks all! biggrin.gif

Just wondering how have you been? Has the swelling subsided after taking the medication?

I'm having the same issue, i think it's my wisdom tooth causing my left cheek swollen but there's no pain tho.

Well the swollen has gone. It took almost a week. Right now I just becareful when biting and cleaning. I should have gone to remove it but I'm still scared so yeah. Just hoping for the best for now. xD

Finally mustered all the courage in the world and got my wisdom tooth out just a few hours ago! Now I’m resting here with a slightly numb jaw and bleeding gum.

Is it normal that I’m still bleeding? Had my wisdom tooth extracted in the morning.

This is actually the proper practice.

After brushing, only spit out the excess toothpaste and wipe your mouth. Leaving the toothpaste remnants inside your mouth helps with absorption of the good stuffs into your teeth.

Wow didn't know that as well.
