Hi. I previously had a Root Canal Treatment done on one of my incisors and i am advised to do a crown. Besides I have fluorosis as well so the doctor suggested to do veneers as well. However, the price listed by the clinic is too expensive as I am still a student and cannot pay the price.

Recently I'm starting to have a bit of sensation on the incisors that had the RCT. I went to another clinic and they say i may need another RCT because they saw there is 'something' at the supposedly done teeth (2 months back). Also, they advised me to do the crowning and veneer as well. Again, I declined because i reallly cannot afford to pay, especially at these times of COVID where i lost my part time job. They told me it costs 2k/crown or veneer, and i need 6 done because they are my front teeth. If that's so i need to pay up rm 12k (not inclusive of the possible re-RCT and consultation fees)

Are there any other affordable options? (e.g. government. If so, how long is the waiting period? I heard that they do not accept patients older than 18.)

it's tough for me to have to bear the cost right now and i do start to notice my incisor tooth starting to turn more yellow. can i afford to wait till i start working?

You can try to visit one of the government dental clinics and let them know your problem. They may or may not refer you to the specialist but you can always enquire first.

How bad is your fluorosis? Common fluorosis is just usual discoloration which does not affect function of the tooth, only esthetics is affected which most people are not bothered.

My advice is try to fix the front teeth that needs RCT, if you're not comfortable with the dentist or he/she does not explain to you the how and why, different options you can go for, I would seek for 2nd opinion with another dentist.

Ultimately it is up to you to decide what you want to do, the dentist would suggest treatment plans suitable for your case.

thanks for your advice. i think it is quite bad? there are patches all over my front teeth. i do not dare to smile when taking pictures because it is quite obvious

can i walk in government clinics just like that? because i'm concerned that during MCO they might not allow walk in

does government clinic offers RCT and veneer for fluorosis? or is it only available in private practice?
