Dear friends,
When it comes to dental implant making decision, there are few things that people always asked us, and we called that the 5 misconceptions of dental implants.
1. All Dentist can place implants: Well, it is right that all dentist can place dental implants, but for dental implant to last long it takes proper planning and techniques to place a dental implant. If you would like to get a dental implant do remember to look for dentist who has been practicing dental implants for long time.
2. Dental Implants are Painful:The procedure of doing a dental implant is not painful as the doctor will use anesthesia to block out the pain. If you have pain during the procedure it is important to let your dentist know. Your dentist will give you some medication to help in the healing process and to reduce the discomfort you might have after the surgery.
3. Dental Implant is only to replace one missing toothDental Implants can replace multiple missing teeth, however it depends on each individual and case. Sometimes 2 dental implants can support 3 teeth. If you do not have any teeth, there are times where 4 or 6 dental implants can be inserted into the jaw to support a full denture or even a dental bridge.
4. Dental Implants are expensiveIf we were to consider dental health in the future, dental implants are much more cost effective and reliable way to replace missing teeth. This is because a missing tooth can cause multiple problems in the future. An example would be like, drifting of your teeth, shrinkage in jaw bone, build up of dental cavity, sensitivity, and others, which will cost more to fix in the future.
Dental Implants can be done in 1 dayUsually the total treatment for a complete dental implant to a crown takes around 4-6 months and sometimes if severe cases can take to 8 months. However the 1st surgery procedure can be done in one day, usually in 30 mins to a few hours. There are times where we can take a badly injured tooth out and place a dental implant. Again it all depends on individual.
Well, these are the misconceptions of dental implants. Hope this helps. If you need more information do let us know.
