Hi sifus,

something wrong with my stock combo modem-router provided by TM. sometimes if i connect internet using LAN, internet will get disconnected and unable to login. i have to remove the LAN cable and restart the combo modem-router to get internet back. i thinking of changing it. i currently on 4mpbs. any good brand/model you all can recommend? budget RM300 (sorry i didn manage to run through all the post in this forum, i not sure anybody has posted this question before)

I thought it was a standard practice for the TM contractor to set max dl speed at 5120kbps (the contractor is authorised to do that without referring to HQ). next time provide free drink to them when they come to your house. biggrin.gif

Actually from pole to house should be free. you only bear the cost of internal wiring. last month the contractor charged me RM50 for in house wiring.

I dunno about your area. but usually if in house wiring got problem. the contractor can check if need rewiring then pay for the price of the rewiring (depend on the distance). the rewiring should include the charges for checking. better clarify with the contractor before they proceed to do the in house checking.

I have lodged a report regarding my internet speed. TM downgraded my 4mpbs to 2mbps. Then i received this sms
RM0.00:TM:1-159446 We're trying our best to resolve the report within the next working day, subject to nature of the fault. A one-time charge will be imposed depending on the nature of fault.

Has anoyone ever received thia kind of message suggesting that there will be charges where the fault was.from TM?

Note: Check SNR and attenuation, if SNR is high and attenuation is low, then the port is wrongly capped at TM side.

i called TM 100 to reset the port. i even told them they have wrongly capped my speed at 2mpbs. The officer said there is configuration issue. Would that took them so long to resolve the issue? until now still nothing happened. i thought the officer can just reset the downstream speed at the system?
My SNR downstream: 26.7

I called TM100 again. the officer said my case now is handled by a task force (huh?). i asked them was that major and she said yes!!!.

I told them no problem with the wiring because i just redo the in house wiring few months ago.

if you not getting the full 4mpbs, you may need to call TM to increase your downstream limit to 5mbps. tell them you no getting the full 4mbps. the rationale is to avoid internet connection not getting the full 4mbps.

i did check with TM. they said if still under contract, cannot upgrade to 8mbps at RM140, you need to pay RM160.
