I've had some disconnect/reconnect problems over the past 1-2 weeks. I think its something to do with the ports. Maybe they are doing maintenance / upgrades.

I noticed that sometimes my connection is on ADSL G.dmt.bis instead of ADSL2+. The attainable rate is much lower then. Also noticed that when on ADSL2+, sometimes the attainable rate shows higher than it used to. I used to see around 6-8k range, but now sometimes it shows 9-10k range. I think some users have posted that they get 15-20k range also.

Maybe this is to do with some higher speed package that may be offered next year? It looks like the 2 / 4 / 8Mb package prices will be adjusted lower, maybe to cater for the doubling of speed or price discount next year. Its just a guess.

I may be wrong, but I don't think prices revert back. The contract is just the minimum period you are supposed to be subscribed to the package and should be able to continue after that.

My guess is that Streamyx package prices will be adjusted next year. I am guessing it will follow the recent promo prices.

Old prices were 2M = 130, 4M = 140, 8M = 160.
Promo prices ar 2M = 120, 4M = 130, 8M = 140.

If Streamyx users get double speed upgrade next year, then
current 2M user should get 4M at same current price
current 4M user should get 8M at same current price

If the user cannot be upgraded to a higher package, I think they will remain at their current speed and get a RM10 or RM20 discount to match the promo prices.

Then there may also be a higher speed package introduced. Maybe this is the thank you surprise and better offer that they say will come in 2017.

This must be following the 2/4/8M = RM120/130/140 pricing. This was the promo end of last year. So you can move from old RM140 4M to new RM140 8M package when technically possible. But not all 4M areas have 8M coverage.

That's good. With the 2/4/8M = RM120/130/140, its effectively doubling your speed at your old price. They don't seem to be doing it automatically, so I hope everyone either calls 100 or goes to TMPoint to try.

What package name shown on the bill for this RM110 4M? Did you get during some promo?

Your line is wronly set to 2Mbps only. Call 100 and ask them to set it back to 4Mbps. The Down stream rate should then show around 51xx reading. Speed test after that should be around 4M.

Can you tell how much was your 1M package and how much for the 4M package? Is there contract renewal?

Looks like that is the new price. So any 4M users now paying RM140 should try to get it reduced to RM130.

May not always work if you happen to be assigned to a certain IP range.

If you have ruled out any filter, line, port etc problem, I think you should try to use another modem and see if it connects properly.

I had a similar problem. I had a older and newer modem. A couple of months ago, the newer modem was having disconnection problems. After checking everything and also factory resetting the modem etc, it would only connect at 1M. If I connect about 10 or 20 different times, once or twice it will connect at 4M but will disconnect shortly. Almost all times it would only connect at 1M. And the 1M is not the normal 1M connection. It showed some random 1xxx figure. The max data / attainable rate would also show a higher 1xxx figure.

Then I used back the older modem. It connect properly at 4M everytime with no disconnects etc. To make sure, I tested many times over many days, swapping the modems. The newer one was not connecting properly. The older one always connected properly.

So I think it is a modem hardware or firmware problem. Or the modem is not connecting properly with the port due to some incompatibility. I also noticed that this problem started happening when I noticed the attainable rate had changed. A few months ago it used to show only around 8xxx range. Then I noticed that it started to show at 9xxx range and sometimes 10xxx range. So maybe they had done some maintenance or upgrades to the ports or something. It was around that time that I started having this problem.

So try another modem and see if that works.

Any current Streamyx user who is in Unifi covered area got offer or email to free upgrade from Streamyx to Unifi?

Not much info on if they have stopped or even started. May have to wait up to 15 Aug.

I think agents are calling Streamyx users offering Unifi packages. But thats the normal packages and nothing to do with free upgrade. Problem is there is no info on what the free upgrade is or when.

There's a post on Unifi thread where someone supposedly got free upgrade to 30M.

Who knows what they are doing? Call and ask again and you may get different answer. The ad on this article says 31 Dec.
